The photograph is marked "Drummond St. Ballarat" In the background is the Ballarat hospital, with a cab stand/shelter shed with two horse-drawn cabs at either end. Large trees in Drummond St. - conifers. Also shows other tram track and poles at the time of the photograph being taken. The ESCo tram is not fitted with windscreens. The second copy has an undated letter on the rear. with a handwritten note "1911 period"Yields information about the Ballarat Hospital c1909.Black and white postcard with a green (17mm wide) border acting as a frame to the postcard picture. The picture measures 49mm High x 97mm wide. Has a Victorian One Penny stamp with a "168" cancellation stamp and two cancellation stamps, one Ballarat 7/7/09 and the other with a large "5" in the middle.. The card has been published by the Commonwealth of Australia with a coat of Arms. Black and white photograph of cable trailer 88 being loaded onto a wagon at the Spencer St / Flinders St railway yard by the railway yard travelling gantry crane. Trailer lettered M&MTB. Has a man riding the top of the car before being loaded into a I type open wagon. Photo mid to late 1920s? Photo from the Collection of the Department of Infrastructure now with the Public Records Office - image number "Box 108-1. Note: this photo is now out of copyright and may not have been an original VR photograph, but one copied from another source and collected as their Heritage series. The building in the background in Flinders Street (extension/west.) is the former Melbourne Harbour Trust Officers. By the time of this photo was taken the building was in the hands of the Department of Agriculture. Their name can just be seen on the top part of the building. It was demolished when the convention centre was built beside the WTC in the mid-1980’s. The crane was dismantled in the late 1990s around the time of the No 1 goods shed was moved to Bylands. The cable car has been stripped of a number of parts : Some windows. All the brake rigging and pawls All the roof-mounted destination boxes. Set of two colour prints taken on the last day of operation, of the Hawthorn Tram depot as a running depot in the evening. The photographer is not known. Possibly a copy print. 1 - looking at operations in Wallen Road with W2 353 (Hawthorn route 27) returning to the depot and two W2s (possibly 330 and 332) shunting in Wallen Road. 2 - SW6 855 and SW6 848 are on roads 5 and 6 in the "new" shed at Hawthorn. The depot ceased as a running shed on 14/2/1965. Front cover has a image of the Arch of Victory on the left hand side with space for title, address area and stamp.
