Do Drop In was a general store and hall from 1937 until 1955. It also served as a bus terminal up until 1979. The shop, hall and vintage buses were destroyed by fire 4 May 1980. The original holiday house was still occupied until 1982. York on Lilydale now occupies the site of Do Drop In.'Do Drop In' was an important institution in Mt Evelyn for many decades. Newspaper article titled 'Volcano' gives the Mines Department Problem. Bendigo Advertiser dated Friday, May 12, 1967. Mine was still burning and the ground had subsided four feet more. It would be a matter of waiting until the smoke diminished and how far the ground was going to subside. Until then it would be useless to do anything. Sawdust had been dumped in the shaft, on top of the concrete slab. Bendigo Advertiser Thursday, May 11, 1967 article of an old mine shaft burning on the corner of Pitt and Old Violet Street. It was filled to a depth of about 20 feet with sawdust and rubbish and caught alight on Anzac night when a bonfire got out of control and was still burning on May 10. Some attempts has been made to put it out but had failed. There was concern for children playing in the area.
