Cream wool hand knitted square necked dress. Small balloon sleeves, short cream satin ribbon tie at waist. Yolk has an open pattern, while skirt is stocking stitch, with a band of diamond shaped patterning 13 cms wide, and a bottom band of garter stitch. This collection of knitted and sewn garments were made in the early 1940s and were intended for a baby that was stillborn.costume, children's, baby dress

Clothing. Dark olive green fabric,(possibly cotton) with a sueded feel, bracelet length gloves. In between the fingers (on the side of the fingers)the gloves have panels of dark olive kid leather. At the top of the glove, on the outer side, the fabric is pleated, to give a rounded effect. A flat bow 6 cms from side to side, trims the curve. Cream linen fabric, rectangular in shape. One log edge is finished with a 16 cm wide band of lace. This lace has been.machine made, and attached to the linen with a zig-zag machine stitch. The woven pattern in the lace is geometric in style. The other three sides are edged with 1.5 cm wide, woven lace in a scalloped design. Clothing. Deep V neckline, front and back, has a tapered tie, at the shoulder to 4.5 cm, and slanted at the lower edge of the tie. The V neckline has a fine binding finish as do the armholes, and the lower edge of the bodice. Shadow, and pulled thread embroidery, in a floral design, outlines the V neckline in the front. A tiny 10 cm x 10 cm heart shaped pocket is bound at the edges and sits at lower right front. A small dart, 1 cm x 6 cm long is below the armholes, on each side seam. Fabric is cut on the cross to add flair. A two cm x 60 cms tie attaches at each side seam, and would tie at the back. Clothing. Pyjama pants have a V shaped waistband 11 cm deep at front and back, below which is a small 1.5 cm wide pleat on either side of front and back. An 11 cm deep plackett on both side seams - on the left hand side two x 1 cm pearl buttons and buttonholes fasten the plackett. The two buttons on the right hand side are missing. A panel of shadow embroidery decorates the outside lower edge of the trouser leg. Fabric is woven with a floral design. Lower edge of legs are finished with a fine binding. 11 cm peak at waistband. Clothing. Half slip petticoat - elastic waist, peach coloured nylon. Embroidered with sprays of flowers on a band of sheer nylon inserted into the skirt of the petticoat, and a deeper band of the embroidered flowers on the hem. Main part of petticoat in 3 panels. Insert of decorative nylon.Strip of main fabric, then finish with a 12 cms deep panel at decorative nylon. White fine gored, short nylon petticoat. Centre gore shapes up to the neckline at centre front, defining the shaping at the bustline. Bust shaping has one dart at top and bottom and has two bands of 3.5cms wide lace, decorating the bust line. Nylon ribbon shoulder straps 1 cm wide. A 6 cms wide band of lace, with a floral and spider web design trims the hemline.On ribbon label at upper right side seam: Hanro Bust 40. 100% Nylon.

Clothing. A cardboard horseshoe shape, covered in 1.3 cm wide cream textured ribbon. Ribbon is wound round the shape and stitched into position at the open ends of the horseshoe. A small sprig of waxed orange blossom, four buds, and two leaves decorate the horseshoe at the top. A 34.5 cms long loop is attached under the orange blossom, to hang from the bride's arm. this loop is fastened with a bow, just above the horse-shoe.costume, female, wedding horse shoe

The photo shows a group of Legatees outdoors possibly in the 1940s as some of the Legatees appear in the Launceston Conference photo from 1940. From the inscription it was a trip to the Grampians 20 years before it was added to the archive. The man in the centre of the front row could be Frank Wittman, who was the smallest man to have enlisted in the 1st AIF and as such the shortest Legatee. Frank Clifford Wittman was only 4ft 4 inches tall (132 cms). Taken from an article in the Bulletin when his medals were sold. He served in both world wars. In the 1970s Legatees Frank Doolan, Cyril Smith and Brian Armstrong were making an attempt to collect items relevant to Legacy's history for an official archive project. They approached legatees for appropriate items and perhaps Aaron Beattie provided this photo then. Delegates from other states were treated to outings when attending Conferences. Clothing. Guipure lace and spotted tulle bolero with sleeves. The 8cm cuffs of the sleeves are also guipure lace. The lace is of a floral design with tiny looped picots separating the floral motifs. Sleeves are of spotted tulle (.7 cm spots). The back of the bolero is shallow - just 26 cm deep, while the front dips to two peaks in the centre front.From shoulder to lower edge is 44 cms. Clothing. Gloves are bound at the wrist, and around a 7 cms long opening on the inside of the wrist. This opening fastens with a white plastic button 1.5 cm in diameter, and a hand-stitched button. Neither button or button hole appears to be original. On the back of the hand are three 7 cm long rows of stitching-appearing to be double rows, but done in one stitching action. Filet crochet, bib front, waistband extends to tie at the wearer's back. Gathered skirt, edged at the hemline with a 3.5 cms crocheted frill. Bib has a floral design, and shell shaped edging around three sides. Neck strap and waistband/tie are treble crochet. Skirt has the floral design repeated and a border of block and open crochet. Clothing. White fine linen fabric, trimmed at lower leg with a 2 cms wide cotton , brooierie insertion and a 12 cm wide frill of textured (?) fine linen or cotton lawn broiderie. The front waistband dips to a central 8 cm deep peak. Waistband at side seams, is 4.5 cm deep and back waistband is 10 cm deep at side seams, and the 11 cm deep at centre back. Two 1.4 cm covered buttons close the back waistband. The knickers have a gathered opening panel, called at the time a ''drop-seat'' or ''access hatch'' at the centre back. This panel has a 5 cm deep waistband, fastened at either side by a covered button, and a third button at the centre. These buttons are sewn to the back waistband, and the button holes are sewn, correspondingly on the gathered back. A drawstring tape is also threaded through the back waistband. This is a wide wooden Roll of Honor board. It has a light tinted varnish. The title is painted in gold paint with shadows. The names are in gold lettering. At the centre top of the board is a painted circle of 23 cms diameter, inside that circle is a Rising Sun image with a kangaroo and emu facing each other. A five pointed star is at the bottom. There are 6 columns of names. There are 114 names. 3 are shown as dead. At the bottom of the board is the phrase: - "SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-1945".ww2, honour board, bendigo east

Textiles. Two doyleys, rectangular in shape, and made from net fabric. Outer edges are cut in a zig-zag shape - 2.5 cms long edges ^^. These edges are outlined by a double row of white corded thread. The doyleys are decorated with a large ''snow-flake'' shape in the centre-made with four rows of cording thread. A textured weave, cotton bow, with two rectangular shapes - 9.5 cm x 6.0 cms, with a one cm loop at the centre, attached to a folded double cotton band, 2 cm x 34 cm long, which would fit under the collar of the Lodge shirt. Pink nightgown made from flocked nylon featuring a dotted design of butterflies, and triple dots. Twelve bands of elastic shirring define the waistline, and give fullness to the bodice. Shoulder straps 4.5 cm wide, widening to 7 cms at the top of the shoulder are edged with a 2 cm plain pink nylon frill. A 2 cm band edges the bodice at the top and waistline, witha similar frill attached. A similar frill extends around the hemline. A new garment.Label still attached: Quality Lingerie created by Hanro. Clothing. Deep cream silk centre piece, with scalloped edges - 18 cm x 16 cm. (Scallops 6.5 cm wide). Cream linen bobbin lace - (probably Brussells Lace) surrounds the silk-9cms deep at each corner, 3.5 cms deep at the sides. Fan shapes woven in the lace, emphasize the scalloped centrepiece. Flowers as in 11414.26 and 11414.30a and b, would suggest that this lace has been made by the same maker. Object. Rich royal blue grosgrain braid, 10 cms wide surrounds a rectangle of cream kid leather, 21 cm wide x 24 cms deep. On this rectangle is an embroidered wreath of foliage in gold and orange coloured thread, embellished with gold metal thread, which also outlines an embroidered bow, at the base of the wreath. In the centre of the wreath, a looped bow is embroidered in thread, and embellished with the gold metal thread. Two gold coloured metal decorative shapes are placed, one on each side of the lower edge of the leather. Two 5 cm wide tabs, adorned with a heavy lodge symbol, including 4 cm long brass metal chain, with ball decorative elements, hang from the waist, and fall to 3/4 length of the leather panel. A peaked flap 9 cm deep is attached from the waistband, and falls loosely over the leather panel. It is also adorned with a brass metal lodge symbol. This is a military, very cold environment jacket. Suspect Korean War vintage, possibly British or Aust. made. 1. This is a green jacket, 100% lined with fur. It has a raised fur lined neck. It has two pockets on lower front. The pockets have an inner neck (5 cms). Pockets held shut with buttons. The front is held shut with a metal zip and big buttons. The buttons are 28mm diameter, light brown. The wrists have draw straps to seal out cold. Ref: The lining inside:- Rear section fully sewn in, in the two front panels, the bottom edges are not sewn in. 2. Scarf. Woollen, Khaki, thick. Clothing. The lower section of this garment has been removed, making an accurate assessment impossible. A beautiful panel of lace from the neckline, dipping to a Vshape at the centre back, has a swirled and leaf design. This design extends over the shoulders and bustline, with a peaked finish below the bust. Bows and spots decorate the below elbow sleeves, and are finished at the lower edge with a panel of lace 8 cm deep at the seam, extending to 15 cms deep at the outer side. Clothing. Tiny kid(?) leather soles - just 11 cms long, with burgandy silk fabric uppers- having a centre front seam, and a centre back seam. These seams are machine stitched and then top stitched on both sides of the seam, with tiny machine stitches. A 'turn-back' of burgandy, fake-fur trims around the ankle high boots and two burgandy silk ribbon bows, fasten the boot at the outer ankle. Inners of the boots are lined with a canvas-like fabric.
