The Kew Community Festival was initiated by Cr Gerard Petrie, Mayor of Kew in 1974. Initially a biannual event, it became an annual festival in the 1980s. Badges of different colours were distributed at various Festivals. Item on the 2022 Eltham Festival held April 2023 which had been postponed due to Alistair Knox Park being waterlogged from substantial rainfalls. In July/August 2023, Eltham Rotary advised they were cancelling the 2023 Eltham Festival as the budget did not cater for two festivals to be held in the same year.
