This project involved community representatives in the identification of unsafe points on the route between Wintringham Hostel and Bay Street, in particular for elderly and disabled people. The intention of the project was to improve coordination between departments of Council viz. Health & Safety with Infrastructure. He and CURA's Social Justice and the City Project funded Port Melbourne community groups protesting against the SCDC development in 1987. Terry Chumbley raised the issue of contamination of the Bayside site. His actions, particularly the correspondence included here, led to the EPA imposing a clean up notice on the site. The de-contamination work took several years and was reported to have cost $43 million.
