Their history began when a golf club ...Zilles Printers was begun by Lewis Zilles in the early 1930s. It was in McKenzie Street Ballarat. His son Jeffrey also became a printer - letterpress, offset and screen printer. The business became Zilles Printers/Graphics and was in Armstrong Street and later Bell Street Ballarat. H F Deutscher Pty Ltd were the manufacturers of lawn mowers. They were at 711 Creswick Road, Ballarat but now are at 731 Creswick Road Wendouree. They have been making petrol mowers since the 1950s. Their history began when a golf club asked them to build a mower that was able to cut long grass. Since then they have produced many different models of hand and ride-on mowers.A4 booklet - 10 pages. Photo of shop Front Display Window: A black and white photo of large open windows with a central door. In the window on the left side wall is a display sign with *Hanro* A stand along display sign with a golfer swinging a club and two golf balls near by. Casual wear and shirts are displayed around with spools of thread. A Chair with cardigans is also displayed. Some plants are in the window and in the front is a sign with *Benknit Sports Wear for men and women, Product of Hanro (Aust) Bendigo Knitting Mills Pty Ltd. In the right window is a display of lingerie with yards of material draped through out the window. At the bottom of the photo is the imprint of the photographer *Bartlett Bros, Bendigo. A small tear at the top middle. The reflections in the windows is of the veranda with a lamp hanging from underneath and trees. On the back is the circular *Royal Historical Society of Victoria Bendigo Branch in blue ink. At the right top side in black ink in *MP368*. Sign - HANRO COLLECTION: HANRO STAND ALONE COUNTER DISPLAY PICTURE
Hanro Stand Alone Counter Display Picture: A coloured picture of two men on the golf course playing golf modelling Hanro knitwear. One has on a beige long sleeve V necked cardigan. The pockets on either side have a pleat in the centre and a band at the top. The garment has a small vertical brown stripe running through out the fabric, it is buttoned up with five brown buttons. The other is a yellow V necked vest. The Vest is knitted in a small cable pattern with knit bands around the neck and arms. At the bottom on the picture is a label with white background and *Hanro in red and black print and Knitwear for men*. The very bottom printed in yellow is *'The Quality Is A Proud Tradition. The material for the front is plastic covered card. The back is green tin. A brown card rectangular strip used for a stand and has two metal holes with string attached.
