In 1887 the Tarnagulla Borough Council, along with many other municipalities throughout Australia, celebrated Queen Victoria's Jubilee in great style, with a street parade and a feast at the Recreation Reserve. To mark the occasion, the local schoolchildren were each presented with one of these medallions. -

Wooden shingle from roof of Tarnagulla State School
David Gordon Collection. This small shingle was recovered during re-roofing operations at the Tarnagulla Primary School. It dates from the original construction of the building in 1874, and is in quite a good state of preservation considering its purpose. -

Torpedo Bottle - Whittaker Bros. Tarnagulla / Maryborough
David Gordon Collection. Torpedo bottles, also known as Hamilton bottles, were used for aerated or carbonated water. They were oval shaped with a neck at one end, and were deliberately designed so that they could not be stored upright. Torpedo bottles were in common use from the 1840s to the 1870s, when they were superseded by the Codd Neck bottle.
