"Homefront" is the name of the group of chainsaw statues in Greensborough's War Memorial Park. Banyule Council initiated the project. The sculptures were designed by Amanda Gibson, carved by Hikaru Kodama and Leigh Conkie. This sculpture "Reunion" represents the joy of reunion and what has been happening on the ‘Homefront’ while soldiers are serving overseas. The two sculptures are placed apart, facing each other. The excitement on the young boy’s face as he runs to his father is a joy to see. Dad waits patiently, taking in the sight of his boy. Lists of Junior Legatees that were compiled by Alison Ball (nee Wisdom) and passed to Legacy in 2018. As the lists contain contact addresses and phone numbers not all pages have been scanned and most are kept private. Alison contacted Legacy in 2018 about giving the lists to Legacy for archiving. She had been very active in committees that organised reunions over the years. The lists include attendees and apologies from the 1973 reunion. Also a list titled 'Stanhope and Harelands Resident's Address List' from 1984 there are photos of the 1984 reunion at Kooyong Tennis Club at 01837. There are lists for 1991 and 1993. The large list for 2001 is titled Former Junior Legatees and is 19 typed pages, which may include more than just past residents of the Legacy Homes. Blamey House (purchased 1947) , Stanhope (purchased 1945) and Harelands (purchased 1950) were residences run by Melbourne Legacy to take care of children whose fathers were servicemen, and who may have been left orphans, or whose mother may have been unable to care for them herself, or they needed to stay in Melbourne for further education. Harelands accommodated boys and girls under the age of 14, Blamey House looked after boys over 14, and Stanhope looked after girls over 14. The children were cared for until they were old enough to become independent. A record that past residents kept in contact through regular reunions. "They came into Port" Some second war sailors staged a surprise reunion with an old shipmate at Portarlington UC recently. Eleven ex-RAN men came from as far as South Australia to be with their friend, the Rev. Alec Hilliard, who is retiring. Mr Hilliard, orgained 32 years ago, celebrated a reunion lunch with the men after the service. The men served on HMAS Junee. Alec Hilliard was ordained 1953 at Warburton (where he was minister when the Queen visited the congregation). He served at Castlemaine 1957-66; Herne Hill 1966-80; Bellarine 1980-85. This publication was produced for the Foundation student reunion in 1998. Secondary education came to Macleod in 1954 when Macleod High School opened with Mr F. Meyer as Headmaster. Many of the original buildings are still in use at Macleod College today. This is a collection of photographs of the school and students in its early days.
