Penleigh Boyd, Robin and Patricia Boyd's son, writes “Prior to 1950 Robin, like most other amateur or hobby photographers, took black and white printed photographs. The oldest slides date from 1950 when Robin and Patricia travelled to Europe on Robin’s Robert Haddon Travelling Scholarship.” In 1948 Robin Boyd was awarded ‘joint first place’ in the Robert Haddon competition for his design of Mildura art gallery. The scholarship helped fund their first overseas trip. Robin and Patricia were passengers on the Greek ship “Cyrenia” departing in May 1950, passing through the Suez Canal and landing in Genoa five weeks later. For six months, they travelled extensively throughout Europe (predominantly driving themselves) - France, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain.Colour slide in a mount. Ministry: Bush Mission, Lower Darling River 1860–61; Maryborough 1861–64; Dawson St Ballarat 1864–72; Williamstown/Secretary CUV 1872–84; Secretary CUV 1884–1908. Chairman CUV 1871–72 & 1908–09. Son of Rev. Dr Robert Halley, Principal of Highbury College. Arrived Sydney c. 1853. Had a holiday home at Queescliff/Point Lonsdale and tried to establish a Congregational Church there. Obituary read: "For 37 years in the office of Union Secretary he had proved himself a faithful preacher of the Gospel, a leader of the general interest of the churches of peculiar force, knowledge and devotion, and an earnest and high principled citizen of the State, devoting hmself to the social amelioration of the people and the extension of the Kingdom of God. "A portrait of well-known Brighton identity Bill Butterss was unveiled by his wife Betty at Castlefield, Haileybury College Junior School, Brighton, recently. Mr Butterss is a life governor of the College, and a former student was chairman of the council between 1976 and 1983. The portrait was pained by Ron Crawford of Hawthorn Rod." He died in Kooringa South Australia in 1894. He commenced his ministry in 1865 and served at Hamilton, Merino, Ballarat, Portland, Hamilton, Melbourne, Adelaide Archer Street, Moonta, Adelaide and Kooringa. Bishop Dann is sending greetings to the new Uniting Church. Robert William "Bob" Dann (28 September 1914 – 10 April 2008)[1] was the 9th Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne. Dann studied for ordination at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne and was ordained in 1946. His first post was as Director of Youth and Religious Education in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. After successive incumbencies he was appointed the Archdeacon of Essendon and, in 1969, he became a bishop coadjutor of the diocese before becoming the archbishop eight years later. He retired in 1983. He came out of retirement for some months in 1987 to take charge of the parish of St John's, Camberwell, after the sudden death on the vicar, until a new appointment could be made. Educated at Queensland University, he was ordained in 1937 and began his career as an assistant priest at Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle, NSW. After World War II service as a chaplain with Toc H and the Royal Australian Air Force he became Warden of St John’s College Brisbane. After this he was Archdeacon of Canberra, then Wagga Wagga. He became an assistant bishop of Newcastle and Warden of St John’s Theological College, Morpeth in 1960 and three years later the Tasmanian diocesan bishop. He entered Edinburgh University in 1848 and started theological studies in 1852 at New College Edinburgh. He completed theological studies in 1856 and arrived in Melbourne in September 1857. He briefly preached to a small congregation at Brighton, and then early in 1858 he supplied the pulpit of Dr. McKay in Sydney. Later in 1858 he received a call to Camperdown and was ordained there in December 1858. Married Lillie Tait in Geelong in April 1861. Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1875. Called to Kew in 1877 and served there until he was demitted in 1898. Convenor of the Business Committee of Assembly.
