As a result of a group of European expatriates settling in Sunbury in the 1970s and wanting to play soccer, the Sunbury United Sporting Club was formed in 1972 with the first games played on the Aussies Rules ground in Evans Street (now the Sunbury Shopping Square). After cooperation between Shire of Bulla Council to acquire an open area of land in Michells Lane, the club moved to their own ground, Langama Park in 1975. Since that date, the club has grown and today there are 3 senior and 2 junior pitches as well as 2 cricket pitches and comfortable clubrooms on the area.Sunbury United Sporting Club was one of the first Soccer Clubs to be established in the district.A scanned non-digital coloured photograph of the Sunbury United Football Club. Peter Collett was the stepson of Eric Boardman, who owner and produced the local newspaper, "Sunbury News" until it was taken over by Broadglen Publishing in 1965.It is an image of six nurses who worked at the Sunbury Asylum. They are dressed in uniform. Three nurses are standing and three are seated. There is a banner in front at their feet with the words "United We Stand" written across it. Ticket, Sunbury 73, 1/01/1973
The blue and black printed ticket was issued and used for the 2nd & 3rd days of the 1973 Sunbury Pop Festival. The Festival as held on the property of George Duncan at Diggers Rest on the banks of Jacksons Creek. It was held over the 3 days of the Australia Day Weekend in January. The 'smiley' stamp on the back of the ticket was used as a "passout" check. The tickets were collected by Nicholas Hall who worked as a Security Officer at one of the gates.A blue and black cardboard ticket printed for the 1973 Sunbury Pop Festival. The words Sunbury 73 are in large block letters across the bottom of the ticket and there are four silhouetted figures - 2 male and 2 female. One male is riding a bike and other male is carrying a double bass on his head. The two females are walking. This wine bottle was donated by Frank and Judy Hogan for use in the exhibition 'A History of Vineyards in Sunbury' held at the George Evans Museum in 1996. The Digger's Rest Vineyard was planted in 1987. With the help of winemaker Peter Dredge in 1994 the Digger's Rest vineyard was awarded two medals at the Victorian Wine Show.Conventional green glass wine bottle with indented base. St. Marys Catholic Church is now known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Macedon Street, Sunbury. From information written on the back of the photograph it was believed to be the Presbyterian Church Bulla. This being the case, it was relocated because of the construction of the International Airport. The mounted photograph is one of a series used for display purposes. The water tower at Sunbury Station was built in 1861 by J. Bett. it is of state significance and is an indicator of the importance of the railway to Sunbury's expansion in the Nineteenth Century. Steam trains needed sufficient steam power to climb the steep gradients over the Great Dividing Range and the water tower at Sunbury was used to replenish the trains' water supply for the remainder of the journey.A black and white photograph of the water tower at Sunbury Railway Station. The base of the tower is a brick construction with an arched doorway and two bricked in arched windows at either side of the doorway and a further two bricked in arched windows on the side. Above the base is a large square iron water storage tank with two downpipes at the side. There is a picket fence either side of the building.
