Street Scene - Wakeham Street and Seaby Street (Provincial Hotel) 1997 Provincial Hotel built in 1877 by Mr. Allingham who leased it to Mr. J. Reading. The licensee being held by T.S. Cranston. An advert in 1878 stated 20 good rooms beside out rooms, competent to bed from 40 to 50 persons. Also Billiard and commercial rooms. De licensed in 1916. The Jubilee church on the edge of Lake Wendouree in Ballarat was opened in 1887, and held its jubilee in 1904. It is no longer operating as a church. This property was sold c1996. In its heighday it had a Sunday School and kindergarten. "A fire occurred at the Methodist Jubi lee Church Wendouree-parade, on Satur day evening. Flames were noticed at 7. p.m. issuing from the large kindergarten room attached to the chapel, and a Gregory-street resident telephoned the brigade. The firemen confined the blaze to the rear section and portion of the back wall of the church Itself. The damage is estimtacd at £100. Advertisements for auction sale of retail and residential blocks opposite the Ringwood Railway Station on Saturday, 8th November, 1913, showing subdivision layout, terms of sale, and summary of local features and services. Auction at 3 o'clock on the property by order of Mr. O.J. Pratt - 18 township lots, 27 villa blocks, also weatherboard butcher's shop with 5-roomed weatherboard house and good stabling, and 5-roomed new weatherboard villa. Subdivision includes Station Road (later Warrandyte Road), Pratt Street, and Whitehorse Road. Agents - Coghill & Haughton, 79 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Auburn & Canterbury, in conjunction with J.B. McAlpin, Opposite Railway Station, Ringwood. Additional 2 partially trimmed copies allotment maps on cardboard backing with handwritten sales notations.

This photo is believed to have been taken circa 1985 when the Shire of Eltham Parks and Environment occupied the site. This photo was originally mounted on 3mm MDF fibre board with notes and stickers applied as part of a display on the former Police Residence and now present day Local History Centre, home to Eltham District Historical Society; possibly put together by Harry Gilham during his time as president of the society. Eltham Police Station and Residence: A brief history 1860 Eltham Courthouse built in Main Road, together with an adjoining police residence, office, lock–up and stables. 1959 Police Department purchases a house in Pryor Street to be refurbished as Eltham Police Station 1961 Police in Eltham move into Pryor Street refurbished buildings and office. c.1961-1981 Occupied by Vermin and Noxious Weeds Destruction Section of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey. Former Police Station dragged around to rear of Police Residence (prior to August 1967) to make way for the construction of a driveway and access from Main Road. The building was placed on the site of a former Scullery and modified for Lands Department use. 1981 Shire of Eltham take over management of old Police Residence in Eltham. It remains unoccupied for a period of time whilst its future is discussed in Council. 1981-1985 Used for community job creation scheme 1985 Shire of Eltham Parks and Environment occupy the residence. Council improve the driveway but later add a second rear access from Brougham Street due to the dangerous nature of the Main Road entrance. Also add a rear toilet facility between the Police Residence and former Police Station, which was doubling up as a lunch room. Council also commence discussions to re-establish a replica Police Station. c.1986 November. Former Police Station demolished; believed to have been suffering termite damage. c.1989 After some years of discussion a replica Police Station is built, based on photographs, to act as a lunch room and meeting room for Parks and Environment staff and volunteers doing community service. 1996 Eltham District Historical Society in discussions with Nillumbik Shire Council commisioners throughout the year regarding a home for the Society. A proposal put forward by the Society in October to occupy the former Police Residence. 1997 March. Eltham District Historical Society gains access to former Police Residence. 1998 July 12th. Eltham District Historical Society Inc moves into its Local History Centre, 728 Main Road Eltham (the former Police Residnce built in 1860). 2018 July. Borough of Queenscliffe Bathing Boxes had to be registered to a particular rateable property. Bathing Box No. 24 belonged to a property in Simpson Street, Point Lonsdale The Bathing Boxes at Point Lonsdale were loaded onto trolleys and taken back to the property during winter so they were not destroyed by the wild weather. Eventually they became garden sheds in the back yards of residencies.Bathing Box No. 24 is one of a very few still remaining due to recent home extensions.Weatherboard with Galvanised Iron Roof with Wooden Slatted Air Vent.

Historic photo of mining at Specimen Hill. After crushing ore, the sand pyrites remaining could be treated to extract even finer gold. The sand was placed in large brick ovens to be roasted, which freed the sand of arsenic, sulphur etc, with the fumes containing these elements released into the atmosphere via a large chimney. Spargo's Pyrite Company operated from about 1870. It closed when there became a shortage of workers during WW1 and appears to have not restarted after the war. Black and white image, possibly copy. Battista Borsa was from Bellinzona in Ticino, Switzerland. He named his house on the corner of Main road and Seventh St in Hepburn Springs "Bellinzona". His daughters ran the house as a guest house in 1900. This house was burnt down in the 1906 Bushfire. it was rebuilt in Edwardian tradition, and was again burnt down and rebuilt on a much larger footprint.
