Demonstrates how ESCo managed Weekly tickets during the late 1920's and yields information about the way the system was arranged. The source of the ticket, NSW tramways is significant in that it was obtained by them as a sample. Morning and Evening Weekly Ticket, price 1/6, printed for Week 1, that is not available for Sundays or Holidays. Ticket printed on light weight card, in two colours, teal and orange, numbered 1338 available only between Mount Pleasant and Doveton St. Notes the conditions of use, the time available for which the ticket may be used and where. Printed by J.J. Miller, Melbourne. Ticket has been removed from a block - has staple holes at the top. Set of two The Met, Zones 1 and 2 Weekly Adult tickets, light card. .1 - Weekly adult, card divided in to two colours, yellow and blue, No. A417355, not valid after stamp of 15 June 1992, has the Springvale 1816 station stamp on the rear. .2 - Weekly Adult concession, as above but with a white slash or stripe left to right on the card, A249098, not valid after stamp of 19 Apr 1994.Has the Sandown Park 1818 Station stamp on the right hand end of the ticket face. On the rear are the conditions of travel for both types of tickets with information about the ticket type, The Met logos, Transport Information and Transit Patrol telephone numbers. Two different types of logos. One printed with blue ink and the other with black ink. .3 - as for .1, No. A31869, stamped Sandown Park 1818 on rear, stamped 22/9/1991. The 1971 flood was the the worst flood on record. At Jarrahmond it was at least 11 metres and up to one and a half kilometres wide on the flats causing enormous damage to the flood plain. Records say that "The brown floodwater stain in Bass Strait could be seen from passing airliners." Considerable damage was done to railway infrastructure, roads and farms. More information from the APRIL, 2008 newsletter by John Phillips. (see orbosthistory.com.au) These newspapers are contemporary records of a significant local event.Four newspapers relating to the floods in 1971. The 40th Battalion was an Infantry Battalion of the Australian Army raised in 1916. The battalion was recruited completely from Tasmanis as part of the 10th Brigade, 3rd Division.The Batalion served during WW1 - along the Western Front, 1919 to 1921 was a CMF unit. During WW2 the Battalion remained in Australia and was amalgamated with 12th Battalion.
