S. K Pearce owned shops in Mt Beauty and Tawonga. The postcard was used for tourism to attract visitors to the Mt Beauty township and the Kiewa Scheme on the Bogong High Plains. The postcard gives a brief history of the town and area both created by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria.The photos are historically significant and include prominent places in the Kiewa Valley, Mt Beauty and the Bogong High Plains. S. K Pearce was a prominent shop owner in the area having shops in Tawonga and in Mt Beauty as seen in one of the photos. He was President of Conference between 1969 and 1971, served at Gladesville, Newtown, Overseas Mission (CFWM), Wesley Central Mission and Leichhardt-Petersham Parish Mission. The two-storey house at 104 Peel Street, known locally as The Mousehouse, was built in 1890 of stucco-rendered handmade bricks. The ground floor façade suggests that the front door originally opened directly onto the street. Prior to 1915, the house was numbered 184, but the street number changed to 104 in that year. Early residents included Henry Martin, Mrs Henrietta Blythe and A. R. Chaffer, the two latter being shopkeepers. The eminent dentist Samuel E. Wills, who had rooms in Collins Street, moved to the house in 1897 and lived there for six years. He was reputed to have conducted a dental practice in the cellar. Wills proposed the establishment of a Dental College in Melbourne and helped to frame Victoria’s dental rules and by-laws. Both photographs have arrows drawn on them pointing to the top of the cross bench seating windows where the unique drop bar latches appear. These were apparently unique to this class of tram. .1 - K class No. 100 - probably about 1920. Note the twin trolley poles on this single truck car when new. This photograph shows the Champion Poll Hereford Bull at the 1969 Royal Melbourne Show. The animal is exhibit 536, Springfield Hiawatha, exhibited by S, K & C Hawkins. The people in the photograph are Thea Manson and Terry Ryan, who was stud-groom at Springfield Poll Herefords in Finley NSW.This item is a part of a larger collection of 4,500 Frank Johnson photographs and negatives donated to Melbourne Royal by Frank Johnson’s daughter, Francis Beatty Wallace in 2016. This is one of a series of eighteen plaques which commemorated some of the winner of the Grand Annual Steeplechase which is held each year in Warrnambool. The first Grand Annual was held in 1872 as the Warrnambool Handicap Steeplechase. Buxton was the winner in 1963. Local racing steward of 50 years experience, Mr Frank Beattie, ranks the performance of buxton as among the best. He won the Brierly steeplechase on the Tuesday of the 3 day race meeting and won the grand Annual two days later ridden by jockey Noel Cole. This series of plaques were painted by local artist Leslie Lamey and were originally in the members enclosure at the Warrnambool RacecourseThese items relate to a significant part of Warrnambool's sporting and social history..1 Painted white rectangular tin plaque with rolled edges with painting of jockeys silks and cap.
