Wooden handmade fishing float, painted red at top, blue centre, white bottom section. Metal coiled ring at junction of red and blue. Fine wire wrapped around white section, ring at bottom.

Handmade fishing float. Top and bottom narrow sections - wood, central wider section - cork. Top section painted orange with black and white bands; bottom section dark green, narrow red band at junction of wood and cork. Cork section lacquered. Small wire ring bottom end.

These letters came to Portland on the 'City of Sydney' under Captain Henderson. This ship was owned by the Henty brothers. Captain James Fawthrop was the harbour master at Portland and also captain of the Portland Lifeboat crew at the time of the wrecking of the Admella in 1859.Hand-written letter in glass bottle. Used in Macs Hotel. Macs Hotel is located on Bentinck Street in Portland. It opened in 1856 and was where survivors from the wreck of the Admella were brought after their ordeal.
