Has a strong association with the Rose Stereograph Co, demonstrates the gardens displays in Ballarat c1960's and yields information about the streetscape at the time.Colour postcard print of the central median gardens, Sturt St, with the Town Hall in the background and bogie tram No. 37 on the South Side. Has festoon lighting and other street decorations (Begonia Festival?) in the view. In the background are Myers, the Town Hall and Fletcher Jones store. No. 37 has the destination of Sebastopol and a "Switch to Electric Cooking" roof advertisement. Title "The Gardens and City Hall. Ballarat Vic." Postcard - Rose Series Colorview No. 509. "Summer Car" 11 outside Mac's Hotel in Corio Tce. To the right is Strachan, Murray and Shannon's wool store whose facade still stands. The tramcar, shown in pristine condition was one of the two trailers motorised in 1913 with equipment identical to that of the Duncan & Fraser cars. They were built for use mainly on the new South route to the Barwon River. The coloured destination lights were from left: Red for GEELONG WEST, blank (later blue for the East route), white for SOUTH GEELONG and green for NEWTOWN. Side destination boxes have been added. One of a pair of posed photographs of Car 7 in Corio Tce. prior to opening day. The tramline curves to the right into the depot whose entrance lies between Blakiston & Co on the right and the MESCo's offices on the corner of Yarra St., to the left. Note its ornamental turret, removed in the 20s. The carefully arranged poseurs are employees of the Company, recognisable from the other photographs. The second photograph (Item No. 8617 - large print on wall in board room) shows the opposite end of the tram with the Geelong Club and Mac's Hotel in the background. The same characters are aboard, differently arranged. Early 1912. Ruins of Gustav Mahnke’s Bakery Shop Corner of Main Street and Wimmera Street Stawell destroyed by fire 1922. The Chimneys left standing would have belonged to the ovens. Firemen Left R. Chapman - extreme right Alf Pickering , inspecting damage. The Post Office Hotel and the destroyed bakery on the corner of Main and Wimmera Streets. First company motor lorry with "ELECTRIC SUPPLY" painted on the side (but with the appearance of a horse drawn buggy). Location is outside the main entrance of the Melbourne Electric Supply Co Ltd, as displayed to the right of the door. The sign on the left may be ELECTRICITY SUPPLY/TRAMWAYS DEPARTMENT. Location of the entrance is in Yarra St, immediately south of the Corio Tce. intersection, and better shown in plate 9201. Motor registration is 4590, probably 1910. The southern track has subsided and the original concrete stringers dug out, with them lying beside the track. According to the local papers, wider stringers are to be used.
