This item was distributed by Sklar Manufacturing, based in Long Island, New York.This is one of a collection of items received from the practice of Dr Lachlan Hardy-Wilson, FRCOG, Launceston, Tasmania.Metal cylindrical jube with cap, containing silver nitrate. Title of label on the front of the jar reads 'Ralks/SILVER NITRATE/APPLICATORS/(75% SILVER NITRATE)'. Label also carries a poison warning about the nitrate and what to do should in case of accidental exposure. Printed with an expiry date of May 1986.

Archie Munro came to Orbost and started a boot shop in Cameron's barn where he was Acting Post Master.High button boots became a fashion in the 1870s when hemlines were fashionable at the ankle, rather than dusting the top of the shoe. Previous to the high button boot was the ankle bootie favored by Queen Victoria. They laced up and gave no support to the ankle. But, when the dress hemline inched up a bit, more of the ankle was exposed. So, industrious shoe designers came up with a taller shaft of the boot, fastened with buttons rather than laces. Doris Vivienne (Dossie) (Clegg) Mooney attended CPLC 1928 - 1932; daughter of Gladys Irene McCleave. A keen athlete Dossie competed in a variety of events at the annual Sports Day competitions. This cup was awarded for her overall championship for the junior grades in 1932. Dossie left CPLC in 1935. She was a member of the Running and Basketball teams in her final year. Several items were given by a seafarer, Mr Nicholas Garlick (1926-2009) into the care of Father Brady who retired from St Pauls Cathedral, Melbourne in 2018. Father Brady later donated the collection of; objects, documents and an extensive collection of cruise ship menus (1937-end of 20thC) to the Mission via the intermediary William Hastie, volunteer at the Mission for Seafarers.One of the reasons the gift has been accepted is because there are a number of items that relate to images or records of visits in the collection. Size of box is 6cm x 4cm In 1936, young Eric Child (1910-1995) met, and squired around London's jazz night-spots, Lucille Wilson a dancer in Lew Leslie's Blackbirds stage production at the Gaiety Theatre. Although Lucille knew a few famous bandleaders she, at that time, had never heard of Louis Armstrong, THE King of jazz, according to Eric. Later, in a letter to Eric in late 1942, Lucille wrote that she had met his King - and had become his fourth wife on 7th October 1942. She had finally worked with Louis at the new Cotton Club in Harlem in 1939 where she was in the chorus line using the stage name Brown Sugar. The long platonic friendship with Lucille remained and Eric and his wife Angela (1919-2001) welcomed her and the King in Brisbane on Louis' first visit to Australia in April 1956, and on all subsequent visits here. At a dinner at the Child's Sydney home Lucille presented Angela with one of Louis' famous stage handkerchiefs, signed by the All Stars, and a her own brooch and earrings, which Angela had quite innocently admired. Following Eric's death in 1995, Angela promised the Louis handkerchief to Bill Haesler and the brooch and earrings to Jess Haesler when she died. Rather than keeping these unique items private, the Haeslers donated them, in Angela's memory to the Victorian Jazz Archive.
