These are programs for the commemoration ceremonies held in Warrnambool in recent years. Anzac Day, 25th April, has been a public holiday in Australia since 1927 and at first commemorated the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps troops who landed on the Gallipoli peninsula, in Turkish Thrace, the European section of Turkey, on 25th April 1915 and engaged in battle with the troops from the Ottoman Empire in World War One. Today Anzac Day commemorates all Australian and allied troops who fought for their country in world conflicts. The programs reflect the deep reverence Australians have for both Anzac Day and those who fought for us. These programs are of some interest as they represent the type of commemoration that takes place in Warrnambool each year on Anzac Day. The local people, like most others in Australia, hold Anzac Day as an important, if not the most important, national day. These three programs are for commemoration ceremonies in Warrnambool for Anzac Day, 2009, 2012 and 2013. These are two programmes of the Civic and Memorial Official Service held in the Warrnambool Town Hall on 26th May 1918. The service was held for two purposes. One was to celebrate the gazetting of Warrnambool as a city, two days earlier, on 24th May 1918. The other was to offer prayers and remember those on active service in World War One and those who had died in the war and to pray for the war to end. (World War One came to an end in the November of 1918). The service on 26th May in Warrnambool was conducted by the ministers of churches in Warrnambool and attended by the Mayor and Councillors and Council workers. A collection was taken up at the service for the British Red Cross Society. The Mayor at the time was William Swinton.This program is of considerable interest as it brings to our attention two events of importance in our history – Warrnambool becoming a city in 1918 and the city’s involvement in World War One and the long-term effects of this war on all settlements in Australia. It also highlights the importance at the time of the Christian religions in Australia.These are two copies of the programme of the 1918 Warrnambool Civic and Memorial Service. The programme is one sheet of buff-coloured paper folded in two to make four pages. There is blue printed material on three of the pages. The front page has the crest of the City of Warrnambool with blue edging and some ornamental scrolls. One programme is tattered at the edges. Two and a half page A4 bifold tribute from companions and members of the Melbourne Walking Club with a photograph of Albert on front in a bush setting and loose page insert of order of Service. During Albert's time in the Walking Club he blazed the trail of many cross country walks around Healesville, Mount Donna Buang, Mount Juliet, Mount Buller and the Jamieson River. He was cared for in Donwood Nursing home, Croydon, at the end of his life.

Dr. Gwen Wilson, Emeritus historian, gifted this book at ANZCA's first independent Annual Scientific Meeting held in Launceston in 1994. Dr Wilson presented this gift after her speech about the life of William Russ Pugh and his significant contribution to anaesthesia in Australia. It is unclear as to how the book came into Dr Wilson's possession. Published in London, 1845, for Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, this book was formally owned by general practitioner Dr William Russ Pugh, being the first medical practitioner in Australia to administer ether anaesthetic on 7 June 1847, in Launceston. The author of the book, P E De Strzelecki acknowledges Pugh for his assistance during his stay in Launceston and for allowing him the use of his laboratory for the analysis of the soils and minerals that were subsequently reported in this book (Page 131). Tan coloured cloth book with an embossed circular motif on the centre of the front and back cover. The same embossed motif is repeated four times along the spine of the book. An embossed design of small, four petal flowers borders the edge of the front and back cover. The title of the book 'Strzelecki's New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land' is printed in gold on the spine. The cloth has come unstuck at various places around the spine and a small section is missing from the base of the spine. The cover is worn and has numerous dark stains possibly from mould. The book contains 19 engraved and lithographed plates. This includes a handcoloured octavo folding, geological map, bound as a frontispiece, depicting the NSW coast down to Gippsland and Tasmania, a fold out single colour geological cross section of the Newcastle Coal Basin, 14 plates illustrating shellfish and flora and three tinted lithographs. Single page maps at the back illustrate wind patterns around Australia.
