The timber and cable swing bridge straddled the Deep Creek at Bulla behind the Bulla school. The Bridge Hotel was built by Henry Hopwood, founder of Echuca. The building was in disrepair until it was bought by the Port of Echuca and renovated to be turned into part of the Port of Echuca tourist exhibits and was leased out to be run as a restaurant.The Bridge Hotel is of historical and social significance to Echuca as it was built be Echuca's founder Henry Hopwood. The hotel was situated between the 2 rivers, Murray and Campaspe, where Hopwood ran his punt business, charging people and animals to cross the rivers. The hotel accommodated a variety of paying guest from wealthy squatters to salesmen and general workers. The building was purchased by the Port of Echuca to be part of the tourist attraction. It was extensively renovated to bring it back to its former glory. The Bridge hotel played an important role in the TV series "All the Rivers Run". A new bridge over the Snowy River at Orbost was opened for traffic on June 20th 1922. It was a new timber and steel girder structure, a joint Country Roads Board — Victorian Railways venture and was built and completed at a cost of £41,000 (the steel girders came from the Flinders Street viaduct reconstruction). Subsequently it was decided not to take the railway across the river, and the bridge was only ever used by road traffic. Postcards form a vital part of social and historical records for researchers. New tennis courts on Diamond Street, Diamond Creek. The car belongs to Dr. E. Cordner Senior who was a keen tennis and football player. The photograph was taken before the wooden Holden Bridge which spans an arm of the Deep Creek at Bulla was replaced by a more sunstantial concrete structure. This photograph shows Buchan marble being transported by horse and wagon to Nowa Nowa Railway Station. Lnidsay Cameron is the driver on the right. In the background is the Commercial Store of T. L. Sherrington, General Merchant, Bruthen. In the early 1900s black marble was being mined in the Bruthen district. Some was used for the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne and Australia House in London. 900 tonnes were shipped to London to be included in the construction of Australia House. Marble quarrying has been a significant part of the history of Buchan in East Gippsland.
