One of a collection of photographs from the Iggsten Estate. The water tower in the background is located in Hunter Street and was built in 1899-1900 to serve as the town's water supply. A new reservoir was built in 1945 with water being pumped from the Murray. Program is for "A Grand Concert by the Successful Competitors" held in the Town Hall on Friday, September 9th. No year is shown on the program, nor is their any indication of the cause of the concert. However, the prizes were to be distributed by the Hon. J. Bowser, M.L.A. John Bowser was a Member of Parliament from 1894-1920 and 1920-1929. (Source: Australian Dictionary of Biography). The Chairman was R.J. Burrowes, Esq., J.P., Shire President. Robert James Burrows was on Rutherglen Shire Council from 1895-1899, and was Mayor in 1898.
