Photo looks staged as a school child in uniform leaning at door, driver and passenger in front window are all staring at the photographer. Note the tram has a trolley wheel fitted, the stop is a compulsory stop and that there is a light fitting above the tram with a tinted glass shield that indicated the type of stops at night. Document - LANSELL'S BIG 180 MINE - ROBBERY AT THE 180 MINE
Handwritten notes on a gold robbery at the 180 Mine. One man was arrested and two escaped. The engine driver was also arrested as an accessory to the crime. The underground manager, Mr John Baxter decided to set a watch and the men were caught red-handed. The Det-Sgt was reduced in rank and transferred to Melbourne. He knew the men would be coming up at a certain time. Badge has been worn on a jacket as in poor condition compared to new.
