The photos show Legatee Chas Wilks visiting Legatee Morrie Tonkin in hospital and presenting a certificate to mark his 50 years of service to Legacy. From the note it seems he gave his Presidential badge back to Melbourne Legacy. Legatee M.J.G Tonkin was president in 1952. The War Memorial was erected in Sunbury. On 11th November 1919, on the first anniversary of the end of WW1, it was announced that there were plans to erect a memorial. On 15th December 1919 a final peace celebration took place at the newly erected memorial which was sited between Stawell and Barkly Streets. This order of service for the installation and dedication of the Knight Grand Commander, Comp. D. Cocking and his officers. The service was held at Barkly Street Ballarat on Saturday, 11th November, 1972 and was conducted by Rev. Ken Cross. The installing Officer was Comp. W. K. Hocking, General Grand Commander. The Methodist Order of Knights was the official youth organisation of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It originated in Hurstville, NSW, on the 4th October 1914 by the then Mr and later Rev Alex Bray. Alex Bray was a Sunday School teacher and spoke to his class of the Knights of the Round Table. In 1917 the Order of Knights was officially recognised by the Sunday School Dept of the NSW Methodist Conference. Courts spread thoroughout Australia. In 1927 the High Court of NSW called for designs for a badge and in 1929 the General Conference of the Methodist Church of Australasia recognised the Order as an approved Organisation. In 1938 the Senior Section was organised into Degrees of Sincerity, Service and Sacrifice; the Junior Section into Pages' Degree with advancement to Esquire. In 1954 the Junior Section was reorganised into two groups: Pages 8 to 11 years and Esquires 12 to 15 years. The Knight's Motto: "Live Pure, Speak True, Right Wrong, Follow Christ the King, else wherefore born?" The fifth Eltham Community Festival was held 11-20 August 1979. The theme of the festival was “Along the Main Road” and was the first time the Shire of Eltham Historical Society (forerunner of the Etham District Historical Society) entered a float in the Festival Grand Parade. The Society's participation in this year's Eltham Community Festival was highly successful. We arranged an exhibition in the Eltham Library on the theme of ''Along the Main Road" and our float in the Festival Grand Parade "Pioneers of Eltham" won the prize donated by Pegasus Interiors for the best Eltham theme. The success of the float was due mainly to the efforts of Joh Ebeli. The stained glass memorial window was dedicated 12 April 1987. Dean Collection, refer Cat No 4575P1. The programme consists of 4 sheets of A.4 paper, when folded in two forms 16 pages. The cover is a yellow colour. The front cover has an image of St John's Church, the Rats of Tobruk Association logo and the title words. The rear cover has a black and white image of "A Weary Digger" drawn by Ivor Hele. Inside is a coloured photograph (15 x 10 cms) of the memorial window. Pamphlet 6 fold A3 to DL, titled "Tram Service Changes - Routes 58 - William St" affecting routes 11, 12, 48, 58, 86 96 and 109 - detailing the changes for the reconstruction of William St between Flinders Lane and Dudley St. Work reduced the track centres (once laid out for centre poles) and the provision of a set of scissors cross overs and super stops at Bourke and La Trobe St (Flagstaff Station).
