Titled "Eight years to clear tram tracks", about the time planned to remove tram tracks in Ballarat by the CRB on their roads. Notes agreement with the SEC, mentions the Minister for Fuel and Power Mr. Balfour, cost $1.25million, quotes Mr. Oppy of the CRB. Notes that work on the removal of tracks in Sturt St had commenced this week. Set of two Manila Adult Tourist tickets, 1/- Card Ticket No Ba 143049 and Ba 143797. Useable on all provincial tramways. Card originally preprinted for years 1943 to 1945 and dates for Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong, then overprinted for the years 1947, 1948 and 1948, with red lines through the original years. Allowed a return trip on all routes. .1 - Was punched for use on Wednesday, 2 Jan (?) 1947 in Bendigo. Appears to have been used for three trips. .2 - punched for Tuesday 13 Jan 1948 in Bendigo. A number of motor cars in the scene along with people in summer clothing. In the background is the Beehive building, Mobilgas advertisement on top of the Beehive building and "Melba Frocks" shop on the corner, later Ezywalkin shoes. The postcard has the title underneath of "Looking north from Charing Cross Bendigo Vic". Divided back type with Rose Postcard Rose logo and that it was published by the Rose Stereograph Co. Demonstrates the method of dispensing tickets by conductors, how the tickets could be arranged, during the last period of Ballarat Tramways - 1971 fare system. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented. Ticket wallet with a set of eight 1970's Ballarat tram tickets set up to represent a typical conductor's set of tickets. .1 - Sheet of leather, approx. 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets.
