Contains details of the engine house, the boilers, the winding engine, reconditioning the boilers, the poppet legs, shaft details and underground equipment. The poppet legs are steel and originally from the 'Windmill Hill' mine, Sebastian. The Big Deborah had a shaft depth of 2017 feet, the No. 2 shaft was 240 feet. J Walker - Temperance Brigade. Building was of brick. Interior of building completely gutted. Winding plant appears to be not altogether destroyed. End of one of the compressors was blown out, and the wire ropes damaged somewhat. Two-page typed document plus location map. The location of the Central Red, White and Blue mine was on the north-west corner of Barnard and Honeysuckle Streets, Golden Square. The mine was formed in 1910 and ceased operations in 1936. Features of the mine are described: the winding engine, boilers, air compressor, poppet legs, engine house, crushing battery, gold produced and where obtained from. In February 1959 eight NBH carriages were tranfered from storage at Newport to Colac in time for the first tentatively organized trip over the Colac-Beech Forest railway line. Eventually seventeen excursion trains ran, with carriages and an NC guard's van, usually hauled by G41 or G42, but occasionally 14A locomotive.
