Hand-made child's doll's house. Built by Mrs Yvonne Fitzmaurice and finished in 1979. This house was built as a 1:12 scale and is a model of a Californian house called Peppercorn farm. House was built by Yvonne and her family and took a period of three years. A lot of the furniture is handmade and the rest is collected from various shops. Catalogued books, manuals, repair kits etc used when building the house.The white painted verandah has a brass plate beside the door with the name Susan Fitzmaurice. In front of the door is a door mat and the veranda has a white hanging seat and a timber flower box with flowers."Susan Fitzmaurice" name on front of building. Date on plaque on top of front wall. The former Ballarat Supreme Court building was unique in design for the time. The central court room and the flanking wings were all two storey with hipped roofs. This made this building different from other Public Works designs. The building was erected by the Public Works Department in 1868. Early in the 1940s the former Supreme Court was abandoned. It is not known which building these plans belong to. Since there is a Heat Treatment Room and a number of vices it may be a metalwork room, and may be related to Repatriation classes after World War One. Howman's Gap camp was erected in 1948. The proposed dam to be built at this site was postponed in 1954 because of financial restraints imposed by the government at this time. It was to have supplied water for No. 2 Power Station at the Junction of the Pretty Valley and Rocky Valley branches of the East Kiewa River. This power station was not constructed until 2008 - 2010 and now gets it water from McKay Creek Power Station. The site of this camp is now occupied by the Howman's Gap Alpine Centre. Some of the original buildings still remain. The building is the Sunbury Post and Telegraph Office and residence, which was built on the corner of Brook and Evans Street in 1892. Prior to that time the postal service ion Sunbury was conducted at the railway station. The Peterborough Hotel was a popular accommodation with tourists. The Bar is known to have been a separate building to the rear of the accommodation and was popular with locals as well as tourists. The Hotel and bar were very popular with locals and tourists. On June 26th an army of workmen gave their services for free, built the Methodist Church in Sherwood Avenue, Chelsea. A weatherboard building, 35 x 20 feet, with Gothic style amber white glass windows. Methodist Church meetings and services are known to have been held in tents on the Lintons diggings from the late 1850s. A small wooden church was built in in 1858-59 in Sussex Street, Linton (near where Shepherd's store was located). Sunday School meetings began there in November 1859. By 1860 the church building was considered too small. The land was sold to Mr. Brewer, and the building was removed to a site in Grantley Street and enlarged. Shortly after this, it was decided to build a new church, a wooden structure which was opened in 1861. This building was still in use at the time of the Methodist Church Jubilee in 1910, however around 1905 a fund was established to build a new brick church (pictured), which was opened in 1913. The buildings were designed by George Watson and John Henry Harvey, architects within the Department of Public Works (Victoria). Building was commenced in 1887, and after one year, the buildings were opened. The Post Office was transferred to the new Commonwealth Government in 1901. The Police Station and Court House, sold by the Victorian Government to the City of Boroondara in 2007, are now a community cultural centre and performing arts venue.The buildings were listed on the Victorian Heritage Register Register (HO885) in 1991. They are historically and architecturally significant to the State of Victoria because Watson and Harvey's designs exhibit diversity in integrating civil offices, they accommodate the apex of road junctions, and they demonstrate a departure from the contemporaneously favoured High Victorian Classical to the Queen Anne style in the design of civic buildings. 35mm colour transparency of the Kew Post Office and Kew War Memorial on the corner of High Street and Cotham Road. Wooden model of Specimen Cottage, Hargreaves Street, Bendigo.Model is painted white, with brown painted roof. The roof is designed to mimic the profile of the Morecomb and Rogers metal tiles on the original building. Model of cottage was for sale at the Bendigo Market in early 2018 where the donor, John Williams purchased it for the Bendigo Historical Society. Buninyong had no railway station so residents would travel to Yendon to catch the train. The Yendon Railway Station building was demolished soon after this photograph was taken. The bluestone was purchased by John Vernon, and was used to construct retaining walls in a garden enclosure between the first two buildings at the new Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education campus at Mt Helen. This is now known as the courtyard between building 'F' and building 'G' at the University of Ballarat mt Helen Campus. The following article was published in the Ballarat Courier on 06 December 1968. 'Yendon Station to be demolished - The old bluestone railway station at Yendon is to be demolished. C.A.D. Fisken told Buninyong Shire Council of the proposal at its meeting yesterday. Fortunately, he said, the beautiful stonework would not be lost. It would be used and incorporated in the new School of Mines building at Mt Helen. the retention of the century-old building was the subject of representations by Council to the Railways following the closure of the station for goods traffic 'some time ago'. The building had also been noted by the National Trust as one of special interest. The Railways Department advised the meeting that an inspection had been made at the Yendon level crossing, but no recommendation could be made at present for installation of flashing light signals.'Bluestone building with dressed bluestone door and window jambs and chimney. The roof is corrugated iron. The platform edge is also of bluestone construction. The building is the former Yendon Railway Station (now demolished) on the Ballarat -Geelong main line (the original Melbourne to Ballarat mainline). When the line was opened, this station may have been originally called Buninyong as it was built a number of years before the Ballarat to Buninyong branch line was built. This sign was originally fixed to the Administration Building in Lydiard Street South. The Ballarat School of Mines Council Minutes of 19 August 1953 records that the quotation of Claude Neon Signs (Victoria) for five pounds 15 shillings. The first Wilson Hall was the gift of Sir Samuel Wilson, who offered the University £30,000 in 1874 for this purpose. Building strated in 1878 and the hall was opened in 1882. It was designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style by Joseph Reed, constructed in stone and built on a very generous scale. In 1952 Wilson Hall was damage by fire, and a new hall was built on the site. The original Wilson Hall was destroyed by fired.
