The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. In 1977 8/13 VMR Regiment was reduced to an independent squadron A Squadron 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles and in 1991 was linked with 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse forming the VMR Squadron of that regiment.Colour photograph of group of soldiers outside brick building." Alfred Landauer was Born in Vienna 13/06/1910. He was a commerical artist who arrived in Australia on board the "Dunera".Pen & Ink and watercolor of three camp huts. Large trees at the rear of the huts. Several internees are reclining in chairs outside each hut. A guard tower is in the distance . The singer sewing machine it was made on came with her into the Camps.Blue linen bodice which has been part of a dress. The bodice has sleeves gathered at the top and slots for elastic (not there) at the lower edge. 6 handmade buttonholes down the opening at the back with 6 small buttons.
