A sculpture of an Australian navy man that was produced as a commemorative piece by a Melbourne firm called Ceramic Innovations. It is filled with Tawny Port and is part of a wider set of bar pieces. The three pieces held at Melbourne Legacy are tributes to the three armed forces and are called 'Digger', 'RAAFIE' and 'Jack Tar'. They were once in the comradeship room and now stored in the archive. An advertising flyer for 'Digger' found shows the RRP was $110 with $5 of each 'Digger' being donated to Legacy Australia.A record that the items were souvenirs as tributes to the three armed forces.Ceramic sculpture of the head of a naval person with a separate hat that is made as a bottle and contains Tawny PortGold inscription under the hat says 'Bullocks Tawny Port. Regarding trotting history at Port Melbourne Speedway. Includes an extract from "Trove" of the "Record " Emerald Hill covering the opening of the speedway on 24th August 1918. MLA J L MURPHY (president of the club) opened the track in the presence of Port Melbourne Mayor J P CRICHTON and other dignitaries. The club was formed to encourage and support the breeding of trotters and enjoy the sport free from gambling.Four digital images relating to trotting in Port Melbourne. Donated by Barbara GARDINER, daughter of William HEGARTY, centre. This strong team, founded before WWI, later served as PMFC seconds and provided many top players to PMFC. By 1925 Railway United were effectively the PMFC Seconds and were referred to in the media as Port Melbourne Junior Football Club although the Railway United name remained in use locally for many years. The Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA) had been split into two sections. Section B consisted of teams associated with senior clubs playing in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) with unaligned teams making up Section A. Finals were played between the top teams in each section and then the two winners (premiers) played off in a final match to determine which club won the John Wren Shield as premier of the VJFA. 1925: Port Melbourne 12.11.83 def Williamstown 6.12.48 at Yarraville on 5 Sep 1925 to claim the B Section premiership.
