After training as a Cartographic Draftsman within the mining industry, I worked as a property illustrator for real estate firms in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne for 23 years from 1983. I initially photographed houses with a Polaroid camera and made a 'thumbnail' sketch while there. The photos were used to scale off a sketch in pencil and then that sketch was overlaid with drafting film and the 'pen and ink' completed. The pens I used were the Rotring ‘Rapidigraph’ drafting pens. The ink was also made by Rotring (German).The film was ‘Rapidraw’, polyester drafting film, double matte. It takes a very fine line and doesn’t bleed. As well as house sketches, there were often floor plans and site plans ordered. Aerial sketches were ordered when the property needed an overall view. Three letters pinned together. The first is a handwritten letter to Mr Granger from Marie Crawford (Maranta) dated 5/5/32. She mentions that at the present time second mortgages are worthless for her experiences in investments first are of little value. Signed Marie Crawford (Maranta). The second letter is to the Secretary of Hanro from Marie Maranta advising that she has changed her name, by marriage to Mrs M Crawford and she authorises the Secretary to make the necessary alteration in the Register of Members. Dated 5//532. The third letter is dated the 9/5/1932 to Mrs M Crawford acknowledging her letter and notification of change of name. The Secretary also mentions the matter of alteration of 8% Preference Shares to Second Mortgage Debentures. The FJ came along after five years of producing the 48-215 (FX) and was basically the same car with a few minor alterations to the body. Minor alterations introduced that year. The vertical grille was replaced by an elegant finned and detailed version, and the new chrome cone shaped hubcaps looked the part. There were new bright metal body decorations, 5.90 x 15 tyres, new bumpers and wonderful new chrome fins placed on the rear mudguards. And at last the Holden could be seriously optioned. For example, the 'Special' featured armrests, deluxe leather seat trim, front door courtesy switches, chrome instrument surrounds, black knobs with chrome inserts, dash facia grille extending to the glovebox, rear passenger assist straps, window winders, a cigarette lighter and (for the first time) came in a two-tone finish. This blacksmith's hammer was an integral tool used by cattle property "blacksmith's" for the maintenance of horse shoes and the manufacture/alterations and repair of any other metal item required by the property. Self sufficiency was the key element to the success of a cattle property especially in semi isolated rural areas(early Kiewa Valley) and the larger the property ie. stock holding the greater the need..This blacksmith's hammer would not only have been used on the cattle property of the pioneer family (the Ropers) in the earlier part of the 1900s but also up in the Bogong High Plains grazing region to maintain the constant refurbishment/maintenance of horse shoes and other metal items. Depending on each property's requirement for blacksmith's service, one from the larger property could have serviced all the valley's requirements.Large blacksmith's hammer has a handle of twisted iron encircling 19 cm. hammer head.
