Refers to the service of "Sgt Toby Martin", 15 Tpt Sqn. C.M.F.1. Jacket - Four front pockets. Top 2 held shut with 4 BN buttons. No epaulettes. Brass belt keepers in situ. 2. Trousers - black, button fly. Single red stripe down outsides of legs. Three pockets. 3. Belt - black, 50 mm with brass buckle. Two black plastic buttons. 4. Uniform - SERVICE DRESS, ARMY, 2) Pytchley
Part of the Leo Reoch Cohn Collection. Leo Reoch Cohn served in both World War 0ne and World War Two. He enlisted in the 1st AIF on 6.5.1915, initially in the 22nd battalion (No. 1039), aged 18. Shortly after, on 11.9.1915, he transferred to the 8th LHR and embarked for Egypt on 23.9.1915, serving in both Egypt and Palestine. During that period of service, he transferred to the 1st Australian Light Car Patrol on 8.9.1917. This unit later became the 1st Australian Armoured Car Section. Leo began his return journey to Australia on 16.5.1919. Shortly after his RTA, he was discharged. While on active service overseas, he was hospitalized on a number of occasions due to illness. During World War Two, Leo enlisted in the 21st Battalion VDC (No. V360272) on 18.5.1942 at the age of 44. He was appointed Lieutenant on 25.6.1942. Leo's VDC service was terminated on 31.10. 1945 following the end of World War Two. .1) Tailored khaki woollen officer's dress jacket with silk like fabric lining. Two button-down breast pockets and two button down-side pockets. All buttons are military issue. Unit colour patch on each shoulder (8th ALH). Above the left breast pocket is a World War One trio of medal ribbons. An attached fabric belt has a metal buckle. .2) Light brown cotton drill jodhpurs with button fly. Knee reinforcement pad sewn on the inside of each leg. Button down hip pocket and two side pockets. Belt loops and buttons for braces on the waist band..2) On manufacturer's label: 'Pytchley, MADE IN ENGLAND'. Colour patch is probably 2/2nd Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment.1. Jacket, wool. Colour sort of grey tinted khaki. Has 4 front pockets. Buttons are darkened AMF type - 4 on front. Epaulettes have darkened "AUSTRALIA" name badge on each collar have darkened Rising Sun Badges. Shoulders have a triangular shaped colour patch. Red and Blue triangle on grey felt triangle. Chest has a ribbon bar showing 4 service medals. 2. Trousers - wool - colour Khaki. 3. Hat - Khaki, slouch. WW1 style hat band. Darkened Rising Sun Badge- AMF. Service ribbons are; 39 - 45 star. 1. Jacket, Khaki Woollen. Four pockets held shut with copper buttons. Four copper buttons on central front. Two Rising Sun Badges (darkened) on collars. Metal "Australia" badges on each epaulette. 38 Bn colour patch on right shoulder. 2. Trousers - Khaki Woollen. Fly held shut with 6 Bakelite buttons. No belt loops - buttons for braces. Trousers are cuffless. 3. Hat Khaki - fur felt. Light khaki puggaree. Copper A.C.M.F. badge. 4.& 5. Puttee, khaki Woollen. It has a 25mm wide tape at one end. It's length is 116 cm. "B. K. O'Mahoney" was OC 15 TPT SQN at one stage at Mollison Street Depot. Bendigo.1. Jacket - Black. Collar badges are formal coloured Army Service Corps. There are two breast pockets. They are held shut with a brass button. There are 5 brass buttons on front. RAASC Motif. The jacket has a separate detachable white collar. A Major's gold crown is on each epaulette. 2. Trousers - Black. It has two white stripes down the leg. It has black plastic buttons. Inside the trouser waist line is lined with blue striped white cotton. It has side pockets only, no rear pockets.1. & 2. Typed inside the jacket and trousers are “392872 2LT B. K. The Jacket belonged to Dennis James Powell, enlisted on 7.5.1941 No VX55199. Was a POW, discharged on 21.12.1945 in 2/29th Bn. Served Korea in the 3rd Bn No 32729 from 27.5.1951 - 14.8.1951, 24.9.51 - 22.4.1952. The service ribbons on the jacket are; 1939 - 45 Star Pacific Star British War Medal Australian Service Medal Korea Medal Un Medal Korea. The pants have posssibly been used to make up a uniform. 1. This is a black woollen jacket. It has 4 front pockets. It has Sgt's stripes on arm (Gold). It has RA Inf buttons. On the collars are another pattern RA Inf button - Kings Crown. Shiled design surrounded with oak leaves. Crossed rifles in centre of shield. It has six ribbons - see below. 2. Trousers - black wool. red stripe on legs. Fly is held shut with buttons, black. Two side pockets - One rear pocket. 3. Shirt - off white - civilian. 4. Belt - black wool, brass buckle. 5. Tie - black, purple liner.Jacket - Inside has written - “3/2729 J.D. 1. Battle Dress Jacket. Wool Khaki. It has Sgts Stripes, on each shoulder are cloth badges. 3 Div and Northern Victorian Rgt. The jacket has two breast pockets and a purpose made cloth belt. 2. Trousers Battle dress. Wool, khaki. Fly held shut with five buttons. Brown buttons hold belt loops. 3. Shirt, polyester. light Khaki. Long sleeve. Two breast pockets held shut with brown buttons. 4. Tie, light brown. 5. Hat, Khaki fur felt. It has a silver hat badge of 38 Battn - Motto HONOREM CUSTODITE.Inside shirt collar has letters. “R.W” written in ink.
