This clock originally belonged to Mrs Helen Cross of Tatura. It may have been a wedding present in 1880. It was handed down to her daughter Mrs W Dick (1933) of Harston, then to her daughter Mrs Ruby Williams (1952) of Tatura and then to her son Brian Williams in 1997. Black wooden mantle clock with pendulum bob, made in U.S.A. by the Sessions Clock Company, mounted on ornate metal feet with metal handles on each end, four faux marble columns in green with metal tops & bases. Round gold dial with black numerals and hands, brass bezel with flat glass. 8 day time and strike, chiming the hours on a gong and half hour on a bell. Handcock Clock, Early 19th Century
The clock made of marble, known as the Handcock Clock at the Wangaratta Museum, was presented to Harriet and Charles Handcock of Myrrhee near Wangaratta on Anzac Day in 1917, by the Oxley Shire, for the commitment of eight of their nine sons to the First World War. Two of their sons were killed during the war and three others came home with injuries. One young son and two girls were left home. The Handcock Clock was donated to the Wangaratta Historical Society in 1967 and is on display in the Museum. There is a plaque on the front of the clock with the date, presenters, and reason for presentation. -

Historic Clock, SS Edina Clock
The SS Edina was one of the longest running steam vessels anywhere in the world. Built in 1853, it was used in the Mediterranean during the Crimean War, carried cotton for the Confederate states during the American Civil War and ended its days on Port Phillip Bay, over a century later, making the trip between Geelong and Melbourne. It was only recently relocated during the work for the Our Heritage, Our Collection project. -
