In 1918 the Rev Harold Wheen presided at a meeting at Bondi and outlined the Constitution and the Ritual of the Methodist Girls' Comradeship. He suggested that members submit designs for a badge, incorporating the chosen colours (blue, white and gold) and the new name, Methodist Girls' Comradeship. The badge designed by Miss Bessie Sanger of Bondi, an ivy leaf signifying friendship, was chosen and subsequently became the badge of the Comrades Section of the Order. Richard Jennings was a native of Cambourne, in Cornwall, born c. 1831. He arrived in Victoria in 1851, returned to Cornwall and then came back to Bendigo. He was the manager of several mines in the Bendigo goldfields and retired from these posts in 1891. His home "Helston" is in Backhaus St. Long Gully. Miss Emily Dixon acted as Ladies Habour Lights Guild Work-Secretary and later, as Secretary of the Malvern Branch and continued to work for the group until her death. Miss Fanny Dixon worked as the Mission's organist and Committee member as well as friend. The plaque was unveiled by Mrs. Holmes on December 5th, 1943 and was dedicated by the Chaplain.
