Black and white photograph of a very crowded cable tram set inbound in Bridge Road, c1925, lettered M&MTB" with the destination of Spencer St with many men crowding onto the tram. Alongside the tram is the front of a motor vehicle. Cable tram 81? In the background is a number of shops - L. Johnson Saddler, S. Christie and J Hogan (?) Trotting Sulky Manufacturers and A. Vickery & Son Manufacturing Engineers, Photo from the Collection of the Department of Infrastructure now with the Public Records Office - image number H212. Note: this photo is now out of copyright and was not an original VR photograph, but one copied from another source and collected as their Heritage series. Note from Rod Atkins 29/7/2019: The tram is full because the crowd as discharged from the racecourse so most likely taken on a Saturday. A few of buildings are still there today on the north side. Enlisted No 563 on 6.4.1915 age 21 years in 13th Light Horse B Sqd, embarked for Eygpt 28.5.1915, record is unclear as states again embarked 5.9.1915 and then disembark Eygpt from Mudros early 1916, does not clearly state going to Gallipoli. Hospital 27.4.1916 (unclear) rejoin unit 28.4.1916, embark for France 2.6.1916, taken on strength of 1st Anzac Army Corps LH Regt 7.7.1916, hospital 4.10.1917 with “Boils, Debility”, from here he is diagnosed with Chronic Bronchitis and returns to Australia 21.4.1918, discharged Medically unfit 17.7.1918.1. White postcard. French writing and address on back. Front has silk embroidered material attached with a small card in pocket. Embroidered image of woman in dress with UK/Belgium/French flags on it. 2. Small card with picture of child holding presents, playing in the snow and message "A Loving Kiss" and message on back., 3. Equipment - RIFLE BUCKET - HORSE, unknown
Items in a collection relating to Edward Judd VX27958, enlisted 18.6.1940 age 40 years, embarked for the Middle East on 1.9.1941 and allotted to 2/7th Field Coy Engineers, disembarked Australia 27.2.1943, discharged from the 2nd AIF on 8.11.1945. His record shows he was classed has having 545 days overseas service, awarded the Africa Star but was classed as not eligible for the 1939 - 45 Star.This is basically a leather funnel tube. The large end has a curved circumference, with one side reinforced. It has a sewn leather hem. Half way down the "tube" is a leather band and strap assembly with two smaller straps riveted to the main tube. At the end of the strap assembly -is a rectangular hole and a small round hole. At the small end of the tube is an opening. It also has a sewn leather hem. The leather colour is dark tan. It is a rifle protector.rifle, bucket -

His records also state that he was in the 5th Reo’s 60th Bn but given his No is 2 days after his brother Henry’s but sounds like 38th. Document - LOG BOOK, FLYING, RAAF, 1942
Ronald Leslie Schorey Dickinson RAAF No 439212. He initially enlisted as a RAAF Cadet age 16 years on 27.2.1942, Cpl 17.11.1942, Sgt 17.6.1943, S/Sgt 8.10.1943. At age 18 he enlists on 29.2.1944 with the rank A/C 2 and soon with the rank LAC (leading Aircraftsman). He is posted to places like Geraldton & Kalgoorlie WA, Benalla & Tocumwal VIC. From 23.9.1945 he is listed with postings at 54 Mile NT, Darwin in two different units, Winellie and Ransford. He is discharged with the rank of LAC on 20.5.1946. Records are hard to follow but it appears he could have been Aircrew as an LAC. Refer also Cat No 7263PThis is a hard cover book. The colour of the front cover is a purplish hue. The spine has a blue buckram binding. It was Airforce Form A.18. Inside are a large number of pages covering such subjects as; Pilot Certification, Aircraft flown, Hours, Locations. Dates - range from 1944-2017. Possibly some pages are missing. 1942 - 1944. It has records for RAAF Flying and Civilian Flying Post WW2.Written on bottom of book pages is name "DICKINSON R.L.S.raaf, flying log -

He first attended the school at the age of 17 years and within two years he was a member of the infamous Kelly Gang. During World War I, 22 former pupils volunteered for active service and four gave their lives.
