Photograph of Lynne Scott and her five children to promote Legacy week. The newspaper cutting says that her husband Colin Scott died in 1985, he had served in the Vietnam War as a reconnaissance pilot. One of his children, Chris, has become a Brisbane Bears footballer. The family were interviewed and said how Legacy had been very good to their family. Lynne Scott says "The most important thing for us was knowing there was someone we could call on if we needed and that the children were being looked after". From an article in The Answer newsletter December 1996 these veteran cyclists were part of Veterans' Health week which is an awareness campaign from the Department of Veterans' Affairs. The cyclists were Jack Griffin (72) and Eric Doherty (76), who had recently completed their round Australia cycling expedition. Australia Post (previously known as the Post Master General department (PMG)) issued this postage stamp in 1973, on the 50th anniversary of the founding of Melbourne Legacy, September 1923. The tape has not been played but from the label it is a recording of 'Mission Matilda - a leap for Legacy'. Mission Matilda was when former Junior Legatee Brian Edwards set out in September 1993 to complete a flight around Australia in a tiger moth called 'Matilda' as a tribute to Legacy's 70th Anniversary. He was due to arrive at Essendon Airport on 4th October 1993 and a celebratory luncheon was held. The event was supported by Ansett Airlines and Optus Communications. It is possibly a promotional video. It is 11 minutes duration. The Visitor Centre was completed in 2003 and provides unimpeded access for the elderly and disabled to the Sanctuary, the Crypt and the Galleries of Remembrance as well as open space for exhibitions and events. The courtyard has an olive tree as a centrepiece. This is the olive tree of peace that was planted by Legacy in 1973 to mark their golden jubilee.
