This dress was hand crocheted by Miss Muriel 'Dolly' Williamson, who was noted for her skill at handicrafts and her sense of fashion. Throughout her life she hand made many of her own clothes and enjoyed wearing them to local social events. She had a large collection of hand knitted and crocheted clothes, most of which were dispersed amongst her friends when she finally went into a nursing home. The donation of this dress was facilitated by Ms Julia Fry from Community Options Barwon who is Miss Williamson's case worker. This dress is typical of the style of the 1960s, with its bright colours and long line. On one face are five separate items regarding the fundraising including one by the Secretary of the committee Mr W Sewell, a donation by Mr M B John of John's Valves, a note regarding a half-holiday for schools, Friday 28/7 for the fair. On the reverse side is part of a cutting regarding this event, the boxing and wrestling and a cheque from Broadway Park where a greyhound meeting was held on 15 July. These two items have been trimmed. Yields information about the appearance of the million mile sign after it had been removed from the tram following closure and before return to the tram through the BTPS.Colour 27 x 27 mm slide in a white Kodak cardboard mount of the sign that was fitted that was fitted to tram 27, recording it had done one million miles in Ballarat (see Reg Items 6427 and 6428 for background and subsequent donation of the sign to the Museum). Carbon copy of a certificate or a notice of the event of SEC Ballarat No. 27 reaching a million miles in service in Ballarat at 3.10pm on 29 June 1968. Gives details of the tram history and signed by Mr. L. J. Denmead, Departmental Tramways Supt., Mr. F. K. White, Branch Manager and Mr. A. N. Smith, Engineer and Manager. Typed on copy paper with a faint watermark "EURNT BANR MADE IN AUST". Was attached on donation to item 1850, with a pin in top left hand corner. Separated for storage. Two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side, with one hole through each cutting. First clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Monday, 28/4/1971 about a plan by Mr Donald Fraser of Lindfield (NSW) to retain the tramway around Lake Wendouree and use Sturt St. as well as Ripon St. Item has map (see image) showing the proposed route and some comments about tramway museums, museums in general and static preservation. Part of the item in the first column is missing. Second cutting dated 3/5/1971 with headline about the possible revival of horse drawn trams in Ballarat. Item also looks at Council's Tourism Committee considerations for retaining trams in Ballarat, relaying lines, reconditioning overhead, looks at costs of running horse drawn trams versus electric trams. Page 3 includes notes on the Provincial systems about bogie cars going to Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. 1303.2 - Vol VI, No. 5, May 1951- printed covers with four pages of duplicated notes - in fair condition - covers have yellowed. 1303.3 - Vol VI, No. 6, June 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - some foxing on covers. 1303.4 - Vol VI, No. 7, July 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition, though the insert pages have suffered some edge damage as slightly larger in size than the printed covers. 1303.5 - Vol VI, No. 8 - August 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - includes an article on page 3 about Ballarat news - including relaying of Sturt and Drummond Sts junction, service cuts, fare increase, No. 23, and extension of the depot to accommodate bogie cars. 1303.6 - Vol VI, No. 9 - September 1951 - 8 pages all printed - includes on page 3 - item re Ballarat No. 23 withdrawn for scrapping, and bogie cars at Geelong. In good condition. 1303.7 - Vol VI, No. 12 - December 1951 - 6 printed pages - includes items re bogie cars at Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. In good condition. 1303.8 - Vol VIII, No. 8 - August 1953 - 6 printed pages with green title details - has an item that Wal Jack was recently given a front page write up in the Courier. Shown as being printed by "Traction Press" of the same address as the publisher - Traction Publications. In good condition. 1303.9 - Vol VIII, No. 9 - September 1953 - 8 printed pages with black title details, page 3 has map of Sydney printed in red and page 6, Sydney rail system. Page 4 has item re the Geelong system and a forthcoming Transport Regulation Board inquiry. In good condition though has been folded in the middle. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - red ink on off white paper, denomination 5c, lettered A 199800 to A 199999, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as Museum entry tickets from mid 1972 at the depot, then as child single tickets in 1974 to 1975. See BTM Fare Chart.
