This item is of interest as an example of the containers used to store wine and spirits 100 years ago. Breweries and wine and spirit stores have been important businesses in Warrnambool in the past.This is a large ceramic demijohn with a ceramic lid and a cork stopper. They would be used on a jacket, mostly for males, with the larger buttons used on the front of the jacket and the smaller ones on the sleeves. These buttons have no known provenance and are suitable for display only. These are fifteen metal buttons. They are diamond-shaped with five larger ones and ten smaller ones.
