Photograph shows the view from William St looking west along Bourke St. Has two cable tram sets in the view, along with on the south side of Bourke Street the former St. James Building, Gollin & Company Building, then over King Street, Bourke Street West Police Station, McLean Bros. & Rigg Ironmongery & Hardware Store, (later Hudon's Store) and the Tramways Head Office Building. On the northside of Bourke Street is the Massey-Harris Building, John Connell & Co. Pty Ltd "Gresham House" and over King Street, H.V. McKay Harvester's Sunshine Head Office. Also in the distance is the Spencer Street Railway Station buildings. The Archway visible through the St. James Building led into the former Lt. James Street. Photograph of track reconstruction of conversion of the cable to electric tramway in Abbotsford near the corner with Canning St, about August 1935. .1 - has the old cable track excavated before the yokes were cut of and the new track - rails and sleepers laid on the previous road bed. In the background is the Homebush Hotel. In the background is a shop advertising Robur Tea. .2 - similar photo but looking along the line of yokes. with the building on the east side which have all since undergone two demolitions. Newspaper clipping from the Bendigo Advertiser, pages 1 and 2, Tuesday April 18, 1972, the after the commencement of bus operations following the closure of the SEC operated system. Front page has an article titled ""Buses were a little late at first" - about the late running of buses after the change over. On page two are three letters to the editor concerning trams and buses. 1 - "Tram Museum states its case for Bgo trams" - letter from L. N. Millar, Secretary of the TMSV about the actions of the Bendigo Trust and what the TMSV had planned to collect from Bendigo. 2 - "Keep Bendigo the way it is", signed "Bendigonian" about tourism in Bendigo and keeping the landscapes. 3 - "Bus Depot at Charing Cross", signed by David Drummond about bus routes and the impact on Bendigo traffic. Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, prior to 29 June 1968, about the forthcoming trip by the Tramways Museum Society (TMSV) to ride on tram No. 27 when it records its millionth mile on the Ballarat Tramway system at 3.10pm on 29/6/1968. Was attached on donation to item 1847, with a pin in top left hand corner. Separated for storage. See image file for arrangement on donation. Note: Later review by D. Macartney in early 80's found that the SEC had miscalculated the distance travelled by 100,000 miles. The million miles occurred during service with the BTPS - written up somewhere in Fares Please! Has a Caltex, Ampol, Kix and Caravan park sign in the background. .2 - 182 at the terminus with trolley pole reversed and under the wheel locating guard.
