When he died in February 1883, Wombeetch Puyuun was the last member of the Liwura Gundidj clan still living on Country at Camperdown. The Wombeetch Puyuun Monument was erected by his friend and Guardian, James Dawson in 1885, largely at his own expense. A bronze bust was erected in Morwell to honour Legacy Founder Sir Stanley Savige. It was unveiled on 31 August 2006 and Legatee Bill Rogers was invited to perform the unveiling. The article from the local newspaper says that "Legacy founder Sir Stanley Savige was finally immortalised in his birthplace, Morwell" with the unveiling of the bronze bust. A memorial was erected in Morwell to honour Legacy Founder Sir Stanley Savige. It was unveiled on 16 April 2010 and Legatee Bill Rogers was invited to attend. The event was to unveil a bronze plaque depicting both the work of Legacy and the achievements of Stanley Savige. Advance Morwell played a leading role in the memorial project, supported by members of the planning group and Latrobe City Council. The plaque and the naming of Legacy Place completes the final stage of the Savige Memorial Project that commenced with the erection of a bronze bust of Stanley Savige in 2006. Unveiled Saturday 13 October 1990. Russell Yeoman advised (14 Jun 2017 society meeting) that the Shire of Eltham had been given a plaque to commemorate Walter Withers and that the rock was sourced from west of Melbourne with funds from a local government grant. The initial crane to lift the rock in place was too small and another crane was arranged. Kew Tapestry The eight panels depict the history of Kew. This was a 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial Project carried out under the auspices of City of Kew Council and the Kew Historical Society Incorporated. Nearly 600 citizens including many children participated in the production by adding a few or more stitches. A book records their names and the panels upon which they worked. Artist: Joy Stewart Co-ordinator: Dorothy BenyeiSydney Joy (Joy) Stewart was born in Melbourne 1925. She studied at Swinburne Technical College Art School from 1941-1945, then the National Gallery Art School 1946-1948. Her career included employment positions as a display artist, designer/painter, gallery assistant, and art teacher. Joy relocated to Cairns in 1981. Solo exhibitions in Melbourne and Cairns, including 'Done By Me' at Cairns Regional Gallery in 1999. Group exhibitions at Cairns Regional Gallery, 'The Fish John West Regrets, 1993' and 'Facets of Life' 1994. Joy Stewart died in Cairns in 2018.6. War Memorial: Unveiled 1925. Cato Park Plaque. The information on the plaque states the name change from Victoria Reserve to Cato Park in 1930. Victoria Reserve was gazette in c 1914 then had a name change in 1930 to Cato park. The Park renamed after Frederick J. Cato in contribution to his generosity to the Stawell community. The Tom Flood Sports Centre was originally called The Bendigo Show Grounds. This plaque was unveiled by the City of Greater Bendigo & the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch to Commemorated the venue as a "Training Camp" during WW2. Order of Service was, Welcome, Mr Alan Holmes (President Bendigo RSL) Introduction of Recruits & Others associated with the Camp. A brief history of the Camp and Anecdotes was read by Mr Alan Holmes.
