Residue of paper label on top.On one end, star motif and illustration of an arm, in armour, holding a fighting axe. Under this, "Jas. HENNESSY / CONGNAC" On other end engraved into wood, "PRODUCE OF FRANCE" On one side, engraved, ""H T / MELBOURNE WHARF / 47" This side has additions in pencil and star motif in RH top corner. -

Boot polish probably used by family or workers on site.Two tins of boot polish in flat round tins with butterfly type fastenings between the lid and the tin body. Both lids have red, black, yellow and white graphics that depict a kiwi but the wording and wording placement is different. Cambridge St is named after Reg Cambridge. The photo is taken outside. There is a large water tank on a stand in the background. The three women in the front row are seated and Mrs Clements has her arms around Mrs Rosewarne and Mrs Berry. -

Newspaper clipping from The Courier of Ballarat of Wednesday July 8, 1970, part of front page reporting that a privately owned bus service seems certain to replace Ballarat trams by the middle of next year. Government expected to abolish Ballarat and Bendigo trams at the September sittings of Parliament. The Mayor Cr. Mills said he would be disappointed if the Government did not act immediately to abolish the trams. Wrap reel manufactured at Valley Worsted Mill and possibly used in the laboratory. "Wrap reels were used to check the yarn count in a spinning mill. A set length of yarn was wound off several test bobbins and weighed, if the weight was not the correct amount expected the spinning machines draft could be re calculated and the machine draft wheel ( cog ) changed to achieve the required count". - Greg AldridgeA small hand operated wrap reel. The reel is on a wooden base, the winding mechanism is metal and turned by a wooden handle. There is a metal plaque on the base inscribed MAKERS VWM.
