Photo is said to be of Schoolers' homestead,Lake Lonsdale. Miss Scouller was the teacher at Halls Gap Primary school in 1921.Spelling of Schooler varies from that on front of photo to 'Scouller' which appears in book "Bridging the Gap'.Photo shows bark roofed building on a bank of a body of water . Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. Pumps were used to move water from one place to another. This one was connected by a belt to an engine that would drive it. Electricity is used to drive pumps nowadays.This pump was used in the original Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme.Blue steel and brass water pump bolted onto a wooden base. The stand of the pump is rectangular at one end and round at the other. The rectangular end has a hollow brass cylinder extending up. Inside the brass cylinder is a steel piece with a wide brass cylinder attached at right angles at the top. This is attached at the top to a blue steel 'T' at which the other end has a blue (on the inside) wheel with four curved spokes. When the wheel is turned the steel piece inside the cylinder moves from side to side. On either side of the cylinder, at its base are outlets with screw on fittings. Embossed "Simplex" along the stem of the 'T' and "Model / D" on the opposite side.piston water pump; simplex

Buldah School was No. 4555. Mrs L. Petterson made application for a school at Buldah during 1936. It was opened on 8th of August 1937 by Herbert H. Eynstone acting as Head Teacher. He held this position for only about two weeks. The school closed during 1941. The Petterson brothers were early settlers in Cann River - late 19th century. This plummet came from S.S. Auckland which was wrecked at Beware Reef near Cape Conran in 1871. The S.S. Aukland was a two masted , iron screw steamer built by C. Mitchell & Co. in 1863 in Newcastle, England. It was owned by the Australasian Steam Navigation Company who modified it in Sydney. In May 1871, on a voyage from Melbourne to Sydney, it ran into breakers and struck Beware Reef. Conditions were foggy and there was a strong easterly current. All passengers and crew were rescued by the S.S. Macedon. (ref. Victorian Heritage Database)The S.S. Aucckland is archaelogically significant. Beware Reef Marine Sanctuary is located five kilometres south east of Cape Conran.
