A truck operated by G.W. Glenn Road Transport Pty Ltd of Moama, NSW was transporting a load of sleepers and wood posts along Henley Road, Kangaroo Ground. As a result of signioficantly wet conditions, the truck became disabled when the trailer slipped off the verge of the unsealed muddy road whilst negotiating a hairpin bend. They date from the 1890s to the 2000s.Modern postcard produced by the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria. The photo is of a replica tram in Victoria's Tramway Museum, and was presumably purchased for display purposes for an exhibition relating to transport in Kew, and in particular to the Kew horse-tram which operated from the Victoria Street Bridge to the Boroondara General Cemetery in Kew.This replica tram, constructed by members Alan Antcliff and Newton Williams in Mildura represents the open car used between Sydney Road and the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gradens until 1923. The open "toast rack" type was use extensively on other horse and early electric tram systems. Photo by William F Scott. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. The images held within the National Vietnam Veterans Museum make up the Gibbons Collection. A black and white photograph of Diggers of 4 RAR/NZ (ANZAC) unloading water at Fire Support Base 'Peggy'. Water was a major supply problem for the diggers in the field. Newspaper, Eagle star ferry sinks, 30 December 1978
The Eagle Star left from Stony Point to take in Tankerton on the way to Cowes. It carried about 160 passengers of all ages, many of whom were probably planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve or start their holidays on the Island. The 48-year-old ferry had only recently been bought by a co-operative of French Island residents. Equipment - SADDLE, 1916
British military saddle as used in WW1. The saddles were designed to have interchangeable parts, making them easy to repair.Military steel arch brown leather saddle. Tree is made of wood with thick blue felt pads and leather attachments. Neither is original. Various brass rings located on the saddle for attaching sundry equipment. Brown leather strap with silver coloured metal buckle attached to the rear right hand side of the tree. No stirrups, stirrup leathers or girth attached. The leather seat covers the frame of the saddle between the front and rear arches and is connected to them by khaki webbing and leather laces. Leather sweat flaps on each side. A tramline was built to bring logs down from a mill up on Stoney Creek. The tramline was made of timber and the trolleys of logs were pulled as afr as possible by horse and then a driver would ride the logs down to the flat land below pulling a brake when nearing the end.
