Photo depicts the interior of the Strachan, Murray & Shannon Limited wool store in Geelong after a record price was reached for the wool shown. This occurred on 24 November, 1920. This photograph was owned by the donor's father, Mr Cyril Cameron. Mr Cyril Cameron came from the family property 'Burnside' near Glenthompson in the Western District. He joined Strachan & Co. as an office boy in Aug. 1914 and then joined the 8th Battalion, 1st AIF in January 1915. He returned to Australia in early 1920 and started work at Strachan's again. He did the wool classing course (one year, evening?) at the Gordon in 1920-21. He became Head Wool Valuer at Strachan's in 1938 and retired in 1970. His office at Strachan's was on the top floor, directly overlooking what is now the entrance to the National Wool Museum (formerly Dennys Lascelles woolstore). He died in 1983. This photo was originally framed together with another similar photo (3122) and a document (3123) detailing the wool sale and prices under the title "Record Sale 24 November 1920". The two photos focus on lot 372, one looking to the north and the other to the west. This flying suit would have been worn by a pilot of the Royal Australian Air Force. It is a drill suit and most likely was not used in active service. This flying suit dates to 1988. It is no longer manufactured and is an historically significant article of military clothing. It is also in good condition.Olive drab coloured overalls. Full length sleeves and full length legs. Two pockets on the front of each leg. One zip at the front of each leg with extra fabric in the interior for fabric width enhancement. One access zip on each hip. Two diagonal breast pockets, either side of chest. One small pocket on each arm. All pockets are fastened with metallic brass colour zips. Another pocket on the left upper arm with stitched sections for storing pens. A silver coloured metallic pen holder is clipped and stitched into this section. One epaulet on each shoulder, each fastened with a brass coloured metallic stud. Regular shirt collar. One long zip at the front from the groin to the collar. This has two zip handles, each with a thin piece of leather attached to aid zipping. A patch with inscriptions machine stitched to nape of neck interior. Three brass coloured metallic studs, with a small piece of size adjustment fabric (and the clipping stud attached to this) on each sleeve. Parma House was bult by Italian born Fabrizio Crippa. It was restored from a burnt wreck to Villa Parma by Richard Rigby and Franchek. Walls were scraped back to the original, and burnt umber detailing added. Penleigh Boyd, Robin and Patricia Boyd's son, writes “Prior to 1950 Robin, like most other amateur or hobby photographers, took black and white printed photographs. The oldest slides date from 1950 when Robin and Patricia travelled to Europe on Robin’s Robert Haddon Travelling Scholarship.” In 1948 Robin Boyd was awarded ‘joint first place’ in the Robert Haddon competition for his design of Mildura art gallery. The scholarship helped fund their first overseas trip. Robin and Patricia were passengers on the Greek ship “Cyrenia” departing in May 1950, passing through the Suez Canal and landing in Genoa five weeks later. For six months, they travelled extensively throughout Europe (predominantly driving themselves) - France, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain.Colour slide in a mount. Six photos of the exterior and interior of Thomas Kinsella's past residence in grounds of St Patrick's Catholic Church taken 2000. The house "Donanore" was built in 1900 by Thomas Kinsella and was the family residence for many years. The Stawell news of 26.1.1924 reported the arrival of nuns from the order of Sisters of Joseph. The nuns resided in the house for many years. Three of the six photos are of the interior. One of the front door surrounded by stained glass windows. Another a detail of an external door. The third a view of a statue at the end of the hallway. This jacket is part of a winter mess dress uniform belonging to Bernard Farley during service with the Australian Airforce. Worn in 1978, this jacket style was first developed in the 1950s and continues to be worn as mess uniform in the present day.This item has aesthetic significance and is a representative example of uniform design from the 1950s to present day. This item has clear provenance, having been donated by RSL member and Secretary (2019), Bernard Farley after its use during Bernard’s service in the Airforce. As a former member of the Australian Airforce and member of the Warrnambool ex-service community, Bernard’s uniform has great social significance, telling a broader story of life after service.Dark navy blue dress jacket with long sleeves ending at waist height. Jacket is double breasted with eight metal buttons; two buttons are larger and held on by safety pins. Buttons are gold in colour and marked with a crown and eagle motif. Lapels on jacket are of a lighter, grey-blue. Jacket is adorned with epaulettes on both left and right shoulder, attached with a cotton loop on each shoulder and held in place with a screw-in gold button. Jacket has synthetic lining in cream colour and an interior pocket on the left hand side; lining is detatched on both the left and right sides at the base. Steamer trunks were used on steamboats to transport luggage. Steamer trunks were intended to be stored vertically and were able to be opened vertically on long voyages so that they could operate like a wardrobe. This steamer trunk belonged to Dr. Murphy (1905 - 1981) who was the first doctor of Emerald. It is believed to have belonged to his mother, Mary Murphy. Dr. Murphy's father, Sir Stephen James Murphy, was in the Indian Civil Service (1898 - 1935) serving in various positions including as the Justice of the High Court of Bombay. The trunk appears to date from the early 1900s.This item is significant as it belonged to Dr. Murphy who was an esteemed Emerald GP and local person. It also gave insight into how people of the upper class would have travelled.Large steamer trunk with wooden slats. Leather over wood exterior. Fabric interior. Leather straps.
