Used with Lebel Model 1886 bolt action rifle and was the basic French infantry weapon of World War 1 (1914-1918). Probably brought to Australia by a returning soldier as a souvenir. Donated to 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Collection when no longer of interest to family. Nickname 'Rosalie' by French soldiers, a reference to a popular song of the war years. As an adult he lived in Bendigo, Ballarat, Clunes, Creswick, Daylesford and Perth. While in Perth he studied at Perth Technical School (1933-1937), followed by studies under the tutorship of Norman Lindsay in New South Wales. This item is part of the Federation University Art Collection. The Art Collection features over 2000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.Framed landscape. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. Council has expressed concens with local radio station ECB FM's proposed rule changes which, according to a council report, attempts to remove any influence of Ringwood Coucil from the station. Council has recommended $3130 be budgeted next financial year for a sharps disposal service for prescribed intravenous drug users.` -
