According to the paper label "Over 300 Legatees participated in the ANZAC Day march commemorating Legacy's 70th Anniversary." Photos show the Legatees assembling before the march, including Legatee Barbara Leach with a tray of Rosemary for the marchers to wear. The sign says "A gift from Legacy". Gallipoli Campaign 1915-6[edit] The first objective for soldiers coming ashore in enemy-held territory was to establish a beachhead, that is a safe section of beach protected from enemy attack where supplies and extra troops could be safely brought ashore. Anzac Cove was always within 1 kilometre (3,300 ft) of the front-line, well within the range of Turkish artillery though spurs from the high ground of Plugge's Plateau, which rose above Arıburnu, provided some protection. General William Birdwood, commander of Anzac, made his headquarters in a gully overlooking the cove, as did the commanders of the New Zealand and Australian Division and the Australian 1st Division. It was on 29 April that General Birdwood recommended that the original landing site between the two headlands be known as "Anzac Cove" and that the surrounding, hitherto nameless, area occupied by his corps be known as "Anzac". Anzac Cove is a small cove on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey. It became famous as the site of World War I landing of the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) on 25 April 1915. The cove is 600 metres (2,000 ft) long, bounded by the headlands of Arıburnu to the north and Little Arıburnu, known as Hell Spit, to the south. Following the landing at Anzac Cove, the beach became the main base for the Australian and New Zealand troops for the eight months of the Gallipoli campaign. He appears to be holding a tray of rosemary that Legacy Widows prepare for Anzac Day services. Was found in an envelope marked "For Melbourne Legacy. Anzac Day Parade featuring Legacy Lads.' From TROVE: an article from June 1944 mentions him receiving his DFM for 'SKILL AND COURAGE Flying-Officer Richardson, a navigator, has completed a second operational tour. He is an exceptional navigator, whose skill and coolness in time of stress have inspired confidence among his crew.' According to Forces War Records UK, the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) is awarded to Officers and Warrant officers for "an act or acts of valour and courage or devotion to duty performed whilst flying in active operations against the enemy". Set of two oxidised bronze 75th Anniversary of Anzac medals in a dark blue coloured presentation case. The medallions feature a scene depicting the Anzac Cove landing on one side with the inscriptions "75TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANZAC" "WE WILL REMEMBER THEM". The other side of the medallions has a scene depicting Simpson and his donkey with the inscription "202 J.SIMPSON 3 F.AMB. AAMC". The article mentioned that the Anzac Day Commemoration Council allowed Legacy to march as a contingent because of Legacy's 70th Anniversary. President John Stevenson led the contingent of over 300 Legatees. All of the marchers received a sprig of rosemary as a gift from Legacy (and thanks to the widows that prepared them). As it was Legacy's 70th Anniversary Legatees were allowed to march in a contingent during the march, instead of in their respective battalions.
