The Cutty Sark is a British clipper ship which was built in Scotland in 1869. She made the trip between England and Australia carrying wool. The model was made by Thomas Ward, harbour master at Portland from 1885 - 1896.Ship's model in glass-fronted timber case. Conservation work of sills - see notes in object file.Two windows, composed of three panels each, arranged vertically. The top and bottom panels of each window are composed of six square glass sections depicting line drawings and figurative depictions in a range of different styles. The centre panels have eight square sections, with similar styles and motifs. A double border of shades of blue in small rectangles surrounds the central sections, which are in shades of yellow, with central rectangular glass in green. Clear glass panels are set on either side of windows. -

These letters came to Portland on the 'City of Sydney' under Captain Henderson. This ship was owned by the Henty brothers. Captain James Fawthrop was the harbour master at Portland and also captain of the Portland Lifeboat crew at the time of the wrecking of the Admella in 1859.Hand-written letter in glass bottle.
