Container - Miner's Water Container
Containers like these were used to hold water for miners working underground. In mines the word "crib" refers to a meal break time. A crib tin would have accompanied the crib bottle. The word "crib" is probably of Cornish origin.A metal container 38 centimetres high and 16 centimetres wide made in three sections with a half centimetre thick metal handle that extends ten centimetres above the container. the bottom section is an oval shape 16 centimetres by 12 centimetres and is 18 centimetres high it is reinforced with two two centimetre wide straps crossing the bottom and extends six centimetres up the sides and is secured with rivets. The next section is a conical shape that extends for eight centimetres and finishes forming a four centimetre circle. Two small identical wooden tables that are 17 centimetres high, 34 centimetres long and 21 centimetres wide. One is painted green, the other has a clear timber finish. The legs are two and a half centimetre square at the top tapering to one and a half centimetre. Pieces of wood one centimetre by three centimetres secure the legs to the underside of the table. A one centimetre by a half centimetre wooden bead is attached to the underside of the table between the legs and the edge of the table. woodwork, small table -

Decorative object - Display Pedestal
A wooden construction of three pieces. The lower piece is eleven centimetres square and two centimetres high, there's a one centimetre right angle edge then angled two centimetre long and rising one centimetre section, then there's half centimetre high and seven centimetre square flat section. The middle piece nineteen centimetres high and four centimetres square at the bottom tapering to three centimetres square at the top, each side has two eleven centimetre groves in it that start and finish four centimetres from each end. The upper piece is a smaller inverted copy of the lower piece, it has four centimetre square attached to the middle piece and an eight centimetre flat square on top. 1950's era could also be used as a chamber pot. Hoffman's Brick and Tile Company was established in 1862 in Brunswick. They began making pottery in the 1930''s but after WW2 the focus shifted back to bricks and tiles. They were best known for their ranges of Art pottery with Australian motifs. A circular cream coloured ceramic object. It's 14 centimetres high and 27centimetres in diameter at the top. The base is 18 centimetres in diameter extending up 12 centimeters to a 20 centimetre diameter. There is a two centimetre wide and one centimetre deep grove extending out with a one centimetre wide and 2.5 centimetre high rim. Domestic object - Water Driven Mixer
The Hydro mixer was attached to the kitchen tap which drove the mixing paddles.Mostly made of cast iron covered with green enamel. Its base is a 20 centimetre diameter and two centimetres high and shaped to hold a bowl, there is a protrusion eight centimetres long, four centimetres wide and nine centimetres high. A hinged section is attached to the protrusion of the base, it's a curved oval shape that's four centimetres by three centimetres at its base and tappers to four centimetres by two centimetres at the top, it then widens to an eleven centimetre diameter and three centimetres high shape that is parallel to the base, the centre of it is above the centre of the base. There is a removable eleven centimetre diameter plate screwed to the top. A two centimetre diameter 60 centimetre long plastic hose with a brass fitting on the end that is flared to four centimetres is attached to the side of the circular top. Domestic object - Wash Tub
Before hot and cold water was easily available children were bathed in small tubs. An oval metal wash tub. The base has a four centmetres metal band around it that extends two and a half centimetres below the bottom of the tub. The bottom of the tub is an oval 50 centimetres long and 40 centimeters wide. The wall is 29 centimetres high with rolled rim half a centimetre wide on the top, it's made in two pieces that are folded together at each end. The top of the tub is an oval 62 centimetres long and 49 centimetres wide. There are identical metal handles at the top of the tub at each end, they are made of a one centimetre diameter metal rode, they have a nine centimetres long grip, a four centimetre piece at right angles on each end and a two centimetre long piece at the opposite right angle on the end which is inserted into a two centimetre loop that's attached to the tub. wash tub, personal hygiene -
