There is some confusion to it, possibly 234 in the 8th Light Horse Regt. Embarked for Egypt 25.2.1915 then Gallipoli 16.5.1915. Hospitalised with dysentery 7.8.15 then diagnosed as gastroenteritis. Embarked for Australia 16.10.1915 classed as enteric fever. Classed fully fit he embarked for England 7.9.1916 as No 26673 in 3rd reinforcements 8th FA Brigade. Transferred to 1st Div Ammunition Column 23.3.1917, mustered as Driver 4.7.1917. WIA 6.10.1917 with GSW's to left thigh, right knee, shoulder and arm severe. Discharged from the AIF 29.8.1918. Albert Jacka No 465 enlisted in D Coy 14th batt AIF on 18.9.14. Embarked for Eygpt 22.12.14. He rose through the ranks from Pte to Captain by 15.3.17. He was WIA 3 times and hospitalised twice with illness. Awarded the Victoria Cross at Courtney's Post 19/20th May 1915. The Military Cross at Pozieres on 7.8.16 and a Bar to the Military Cross on 10.4.17 near Queant. He was discharged from the AIF on 10.1.20. This is a very brief history of "Jacka".
