While they may appear to be original to the rooms, the items are not evident in any of the historic photographs surveyed in the course of this report, so their historical association with the Chalet does not appear to be strong and enduring. Some, including the Art Deco dining table and chairs in the Music Room ( MBC0038.2) ... appear to be domestic furnishings rather than those of a 'resort house'. ... -and-dandenong-ranges This card table is part of a special bequest ...This card table is part of a special bequest to the Mont De Lancey Museum of hand carved furniture and items made by Mr Franz Striezel by his grandaughter Mrs Dorothy Adamson. Dorothy was a friend of Nella Lord (nee Sebire). Dorothy passed away in 2007. It was to be known as The Franz Striezel Collection. Franz Streizel came from Germany in 1886 and was one of the three recognised craftsmen (Art Carvers) in Australia who contributed to the wood carvings in public buildings and honour boards throughout Australia. The National Gallery at their request had two small panels and a tobacco jar (some of his work), donated by Mrs D Adamson. They considered these pieces highly valuable.A handmade square wooden card table featuring an ornately patterned inlaid top of lighter coloured woods. It has a beautifully carved four legged base with a shelf at the bottom above the four clawed feet. The top lifts up to reveal a storage box below which is attached with screws to the base. It was given to Mrs Dorothy Adamson on the occasion of her wedding. These cherry pitters were used in the early 1900's. The Wandin area had many cherry orchards at the time.A cast iron and wood dual cherry pitter which can be mounted to a table or bench with claws tightened by a winged-head screw underneath. The handle has a wooden bulbous knob, two long curved steel shafts which when engaged, forcibly removes the stone or pit from the cherry. It has a rectangular cast iron trough for the unpitted cherries on the opposite end which is inclined. When the pit is removed it falls in to a small bowl you can place underneath and the cherries are pierced onto the prong to be removed by hand, falling again into a small bowl.GOODELL CO. It replaced tools like a mincing knife.A small vintage cast iron mincer with a wooden handle attached to the long cast iron handle. It can be screwed to a table or bench, secured tightly by a two pronged claws. It has a white enamel coated funnel at the top for the meat to be pushed into the mechanism which when the handle is turned operates the inner mechanism which forces the minced meat out through a side opening. Flagons are vessels with a handle and spout used to hold alcoholic beverages, usually wine. In colonial times it would have been set on a table to share with friends or family, these are most likely more modern used in the 19th C.Two large heavy glass wine flagons or jugs, with two handles each at the top for ease of pouring wine. There are no screw top lids. A lined pattern is featured at the base of the squat necks.On the base of each flagon is stamped: 'ISM 426 .
