Glass chimney from a Melbourne Cable tram oil headlamp - base partly broken and top broken off and damaged - four fragments from original. Has a note that the lamp was restored by Alf Twentyman, later take by Norm Maddock for the Stanhope St Museum. Written by Robert Green Feb. 2015. The chimney has dirt marks on the inside. Gives the impact of the fare rises, doubling the weekly travel cost. Has a map showing the tramway routes and section destination to apply from 1/7/1951. Yields information about tramway accidents in Drummond St Ballarat, during the SEC era and in particular one in 1954 when a tram was in a collision with a wool truck. Significance is reduced by the quality of the photocopy but gives the source details.Series of three photocopies of a photographs and article that appeared in The Courier, Ballarat newspaper of 17/4/1954 when tram No. 37 collided with a wool truck at corner of Drummond Sth and South Streets the previous day. One of a number of this type of tram still in working order in Australian tramway museums. Has no motors. Interior one of the few given a paint finish by SEC, others are varnished.
