Large cream, black and red certificate awarded to Mary Foster for Pianoforte Playing from the London College of Music Great Marlborough St. W. At the top is the London College of Music Coat of Arms. It was founded in 1887. Listed at the top are the Patrons, Board of Examination, Examiners and Examiners (Colonial and Foreign Centres). Certificate dated 26th May 1909. Ernest Wood, Examiner and T. Weekes Holmes, Secretary. Decorative artwork consisting of leaves, scrolls, angels and flowers around the edge. A red College seal is in the lower right corner. A black border around the edges. Large piano certificate mounted on cardboard. It was awarded to Miss M Foster for Piano Solo under 17. First Prize in the Annual Competitions 1906 of the Eaglehawk Branch A. N. A. R. F. Willis, President and John Trevean, Secretary. Certificate is cream, light green and dark green. At the top is the Coat of Arms. At the bottom is a lady playing a harp. There is a broad leaf plant beside her. Under the plant is the word Music. On the left is a man holding a scroll. He is standing on a pedestal with Oratory on the side and on the right is a lady holding an artists board and brushes. She is standing on a pedestal with Art on the side. Brown oval cardboard with a picture of fairies, rabbits and an elf. The 3 rabbits and the elf are holding hands and dancing. Two of the fairies are sitting on the grass and clapping hands. The third on is standing against a tree playing a flute. They are in the forest with a stream, white flowers and some toadstools. The picture is in greens, pinks, browns and white. At each side of the picture is a 16 point star worked in yellow/green crochet thread. At the top and bottom is a pink 16 point star worked in pink. Holes have been punched in the card for the thread to go through. At the top is a loop for hanging. Five Musicians. Raffaele Altwegg: cello, Maureen Jones: piano, Brenton Langbein: violin, Ottavio Corti: viola, Barry Tuckwell: french horn. Music Advancement Society Bendigo. Presented throughout Australia by Musica Viva. Program. Five Musicians as an ensemble first sprang to life when some of the Musica Viva Executive took Maureen Jones to supper after her last Sydney Concert. That was in 1970 when she played for us with the Robert Pikler Chamber Orchestra at the Sydney Conservatorium. Development of the idea was not difficult for it only involved a variation pf the we;-tried partnership pf the Tuckwell-Jones-Langbein Trio. . . . Maureen Jones gave her first public concert in Sydney at the age of Six: she played the Beethovan Piano . . . Barry Tuckwell was born in Melbourne and studied at the Sydney Conservatorium. He was appointed t the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. . . Brenton Langbein studied at the Adelaide Conservatorium and in 1947 was invited to Eugene Goossens to join the Sydney Symphony orchestra where he remained for three years; he then went to Europe where he furthered his studies with. . . . Ottavio Corti although born in Zurich, is of Italian origin. He studied the violin at the Zurich Conservatorium and later under the famed violinist Stefi Geyer. . . . Raffaele Altwegg gained his concert diploma in the cello at the age of 14 at the Conservatoire di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He is solo-cellist of the Collegium Musicum Zurich and . . . Post 1970. As she is a fashion designer, she designed and made all costumes; as he is a musician, some of his friends played jazz and rock for the procession to the Port Melbourne Yacht Club for the ceremony. Only three neighbours (including photographer) were invited to accompany the procession.
