The Club known today as the Bendigo Bowls Club originated from the Sandhurst Bowling Club in 1870/71 changing its name to Bendigo in 1872. South Bendigo football club was formed in 1893 when it joined the Bendigo Football Association that had been formed in 1880. Frederick de Kock first advertised as a teacher of French situated in Mr N Caire's photographic Studio, View Place. In 1882 he began teaching hand painting on ceramics. In 1883 he advertised as a photographer with his own studio on the corner of Mitchell and King Street, which was later named the Bendigo Portrait rooms. In December 1887 Mrs De Kock sold all her goods prior to a move to Sydney. In 1888 Frederick advertised as a representative of the Enlargement Company who was visiting Bendigo to take orders. Named after Thomas Hustler who purchased the lease in 1854. It was an opencut mine at this stage and Hustler patented a quartz crushing machine. HE later sold the mine to the Hustlers Reef Mining and drainage Co. and by 1865 the Great Extended Hustler's was operating 31 levels at a depth of 1053meters. Alexandra Fountain is a fountain in the Australian city of Bendigo, Victoria. It is regarded as one of the city's most prominent landmarks and monuments The fountain is located in Bendigo's Charing Cross area at the intersection of View Street and Pall Mall. Charing Cross effectively stands at the centre of the city and is one of Bendigo's busiest and most prominent intersections. The fountain stands opposite the main entrance of Rosalind Park. Alexandra Fountain was funded from the proceeds of the Bendigo Juvenile Industrial Exhibition (1879), a £500 gift from George Lansell and a further £700 from the Sandhurst City Council (now the City of Greater Bendigo). The fountain was designed by William Vahland (1828–1915), a local architect responsible for some of the city's most prominent buildings. David Lanyon undertook many aspects of mining progressing to become the underground boss of the New Chum United Mine. In 1894 he became a member of the Bendigo Stock exchange and a successful speculator. He then moved into a new home, "Raelwa" in Beech St., GoldenSquare. Eaglehawk Brass band was established in 1884. At Christmas 1885 the band appeared in their new uniforms of which this hat plume was a part. The uniform was made by Mr William Cameron, tailor. These were the first uniforms to be made locally in this district. The band wore them again at the Myers Flat Boxing Day Sports event.Borough Brass Band 1896.
