Murray Comrie Collection. This photograph shows the blacksmiths premises on the north end of Commercial Road, Tarnagulla. Information collated by Murray Comrie: This building was demolished in the 1970s. The first use of the site was as the George Hotel licensed to an A.B. Clay in 1858, then Waller and Robinson. Charles Waller operated his Excelsior Line of coaches from the George Hotel stables. John Ousley took over the stables for use as a blacksmith's shop. He sold out to Stafford & Sons in 1908. Staffords found the existing premises at the George Hotel too small and built this building. Frank McNamee later took over the premises and operated it for many years. This photograph is a reasonable copy created from an older original. Copy probably made by Murray Comrie in the 1970s. The house was built in 1927. It was the home of Mrs Fanny Harcourt (nee Horsfield), 1874-1949, who was the mother of Muriel Joy Harcourt. She married Alfred Leonard Gordon Noack in 1942. It later became their home. Alfred was a teacher and came to Surrey Hills from Echuca. Alfred Noack took a number of photos of the Surrey Hills area which he donated to the collection. Fanny Adelaide Harcourt Horsfield died in 1949 in Echuca. OBITUARY - MRS. F. A. HARCOURT-HORSFIELD The late Fanny Adelaide Harcourt-Horsfield, who passed away at her daughter's Mrs A. Noack's residence on July 26, was a member of the well-known Smythe family of Ballina, N.S.Wales, and the wife of the late Joseph Victor Harcourt-Horsfield executive member of the Nestle Anglo-Swiss Milk Coy. Deceased had been an invalid for some 15 years, but in spite of her disabilities was always of a bright and cheerful disposition, which endeared her to her many friends. Her remains were interred privately in the family grave at Heidelberg. The Rev. H. W. R. Norwood officiated at the graveside. REF: Trove - The Riverina Herald, 28 July 1949. Newspaper Clipping from "The Post", 23-8-1995, P 15, "Two hands linked for peace"The year 1995, being the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Norwood Secondary Teachers College teachers aimed to increase student awareness of the war years in several ways. The handprints of visiting Japanese student, Tomomi Honda, and year 10 student Hayley Marks, were set in a concrete block in a unique tribute to peace. A Japanese maple tree was planted beside the plaque. -

Jenny has been in the ministry for 15 years, working at the Peter Macallum and Box Hill hospitals. Jenny began at Norwood in late January. -

By LEONORA ELLIOT-BRUCE Ringwood East and Norwood primary are among 48 metropolitan schools to be sold off by the Victorian Directorate of School Education (DSE). The schools will be advertised by tender during the next few weeks and sold to the highest bidder, according to a DSE spokeswoman. Ringwood East Ward councillor, Chris McCrae, was shocked by the news, and was expected to discuss the matter at council's first 1994 meeting last Monday night.`
